A trip down alternative memory lane (vol. 2)

MTV's venerable "120 Minutes", which first aired in 1986 and ran for over 16 years (far longer than I was paying attention, apparently) specialized in presenting bands and music more cutting-edge than their usual video fare --- what might typically be categorized as "College Rock". This CD (and its companion, Volume 1) is a reasonably representative sample of what might have been seen and heard through the disc's 1991 release. In fact, this disc delves even more frequently into the deeper alternative past than Volume 1, with dawn-of-the-era contributions from Joy Division and The Ramones.
Akin to Volume 1, and aside from "The Killing Moon" and "Personal Jesus", there are a goodly number of tracks which are not commonly found on a dozen other New Wave/Alternative compilations, such as Husker Du's "Could You Be The One?" and X's "Burning House Of Love". Each artist was granted thorough production credits and a blurb about their song in the liner notes. Altogether quite enjoyable.
