The Best of Fad Gadget by Frank Tovey (CD, Dec-2001, 2 Discs, Mute Records UK)

I was recently introduced to the work of Frank Tovey, and shortly after, realized how difficult it was to obtain any of his work. I had a couple of mp3's given to me by a friend, and really wanted to hear more, and when I came across this auction, I couldn't pass it up for the price. The first disc is filled with the "best of" and most of the songs are amazing. Even if it had 10 or 12 tracks it would be an excellent album, but there are 18 tracks alone on the first disc. Given a few listens, you'll find many of the songs in your mind begging for more plays. The only downside to this cd to me is the second disc. It's mostly remixes or different versions of the songs from the first disc. I would have loved more original material, but given the fact that "Fad Gadget" only has 4 cd's, the material on the second disc is understandable. Not to say the second disc is bad, just be warned. Overall, I strongly urge anybody who is a fan of good music, or 80's sounding things, electronic, synth-pop, industrial, whatever else, to pick this up.
