The Best Damn Thing by Avril Lavigne (CD, Apr-2007, Arista Records USA)

Avril even admitted that she made this CD to target the pop audience. After falling out of the limelight as one American idol after another takes it, it seems as though Avril has become starved for attention. This CD actually displays that anger and attention-seeking behavior throughout most songs. Hence, Avril realizes that to stay on top she must limit her target demographic to teenage girls, the group to which she most appeals and resembles. Actually, the same demographic that has proven to make American idol tick.

This CD will not appeal to adults, men, or anyone with depth to their soul.

One positive for parents--it is clean.

Received item just as described and shipping was prompt. I bought it as a present for my daughter's birthday.

I highly recommend this cd myself but it depends how big a fan R U of Avril I would highly recommend this for mostly teens I like all the songs except for # 9 it's okay but the rest are awesome****************

My grandduaghter wanted this CD for her 13th birthday. I ordered it on e-bay, paid with pay pal and received the cd almost immediately. I would most certainly order again.

I like the artist music. I bought it to download into my mp3 player. I did not want to pay to much for it since once I download y keep it in my stack for future usage.

Avril Lavigne proved, with her debut LET GO, that she had what it took not only to be a pop star, but to be a real musical artist. Her follow-up, UNDER MY SKIN, had her delving into deeper, darker material, putting her in a more alternative-minded suit.

Apparently, she had enough of that. THE BEST DAMN THING is spunky, perky, happy-go-lucky sing-a-long that, definitely, is catchy as hell, but isn't near as good as what Lavigne can do. "Girlfriend" kicks off the album and sets the mood; several of the tracks sound like knock-offs of this tune (including the title track, on which she boldly declares "I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen"). Ironically, with a couple exceptions, Lavigne sounds at her best when she's in this spunky mood (the exceptions being the powerful ballads "When You're Gone" and "Keep Holding On").

Basically, this is an immature album from an artist we know is capable of mature material. She hints at it here and there ("Damn that boy can make me cry," she sings in "Contagious;" in the next verse, "Damn that boy can make me smile"). But basically, THE BEST DAMN THING is THE BEST DANCE THING, because that's what it'll make you want to do--dance. Lavigne's got a good voice on her, and she knows how to write a well-crafted song; hopefully, her next album will show her branching out. This album makes her out to be the "pop princess" persona she so adamantly defied earlier in her career.

The disc is great with exacly the Avril type songs you'de wxpect to hear. Fun, catchy and naughty songs. However this disc is "censored" so that all of the "bad" words are erased, so if you're looking for the uncensored version - THIS IS NOT IT!

I'll be the first to admit that I like Avril (some of my friends make fun). Her new album seems is quite a step away from the previous two. In fact almost every song sounds like she is cheerleading. Don't get me wrong, it is popish and fun, but not as good as the previous two albums. Still worth listening to, but I'll listen to the others more. Not to mention this is the edited version which might be fine for your 7-10 year old, but come on... Avril Lavigne isn't THAT vulgur.

Listen, stop complaining about Avril's "change" from old. She was 17, brooding, angst-ridden, and dark in the early days of her career. This cd has plenty of the old attitude, and the music rocks. It's not the old Avril, but the new Avril is just as good, albeit different.

I thought the cd was good. Avril Lavigne is a good artist and she writes great songs and sings good music. She knows how to captivate the audience and have fun at the same time.

I absolutely enjoyed this cd... way more than what i expected at first i thought "god this cd needs better tracks" But then as i started listening to it more i discovered that i loved it way more.
And i decided to buy this cd because i love happy music that tells you that you dont have to settle for something if you dont want to!!!1

GOOD CD FROM THE YOUNG LAVIGNE. I NEVER BUY GIRLS OR GIRL BAND CD'S BUT I MADE AN EXCEPTION WHEN I HEARD A FEW SONGS. OVERALL SHE HAS A GREAT VOICE AND HER MUSIC HAS A NICE BEAT. SHE HAS MANY YOUNG FANS AND I CAN SEE WHY. I WILL KEEP FOR A WHILE. THE SONGS THAT WERE RELEASED ARE REALLY GOOD AND THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OTHERS THAT WERE ABOVE AVERAGE.

I wanted this cd for a long time but was too lazy. Good price by this guy- no problems. Thanks a lot!

I hate to admit it but I really like Avril. I received this as a gift (after asking for it) and have had it in the CD player ever since. My 4 year old daughter LOVES it and wants it cranked up everytime it is on. I don't know if I would listen to it quite as often if it weren't for her but hey, it sure beats Barney songs.

Won the item then a few days later the Paypal payment was refunded by the seller without any explanation.

Ive been waiting for more than 2 months to get my cd and it never came, i tried writing the seller but he wouldnt return my email.I wouldnt recommend this seller to anyone.

This is a great CD for teenage girls. I like it better than her previous CDs because it is more perky and light. Her others were too dark for me.
Anyway, it is a great CD and it is targeted to teen girls.
