Album Notes Bow Wow Wow: Annabella Lwin, Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, Leigh Gorman. Producers include: Malcolm McLaren, Bow Wow Wow, Mike Chapman, Colin Thurston. Includes liner notes by Vincent M. Vero. All songs have been digitally remastered. In the early '80s, after his stint managing the Sex Pistols, Malcolm McLaren decided to create another group calculated to offend. After stealing three musicians from the original lineup of Adam and the Ants, along with that band's heavily-percussive, African-influenced sound, McLaren added 13-year-old Burma-born singer Annabella Lwin, a beautiful girl with an untrained, exclamatory voice. After a couple of abortive attempts at political outrage with the pro-home-taping "C30, C60, C90, Go" and pro-unemployment "W.O.R.K.," McLaren hit upon adding sex to the package. Posing a completely nude Annabella in a re-creation of a famous Manet painting for an album cover and encouraging songs like "Louis Quatorze," where Annabella enthusiastically recounts a rape fantasy, the calculated outrage worked wonders. This surprisingly substantial best-of also includes the still-entertaining hits "Baby Oh No," "I Want Candy" and "Do You Wanna Hold Me?" alongside Annabella's two solo hits and a previously unreleased track.
