Beowulf (DVD, 2000)

I seem to be fascinated with the story of Berwulf so I had to have this one. It was OK, amazing how many different ways they tell this story. I enjoyed it.

I was looking for Beowulf with Rhona Mitra. I searched and came upon this one.
It was unusual and caught my eye. Free popcorn it said.
You may think as I did at first why put in free popcorn?
Then it hit me if someone is taking the time to make their product a little extra special then I will more than likely get a good dvd and not one scrathed broken or malfunctioning. I was right. Anyone can just throw their product up with the description and disclaimers but whne you want to be sure and if you can find them look for the extra special something. You'll be happy you did!!!!

It wasn't exactly a movie that did well, but it still is an excellent movie starring Christopher Lambert. You could see the influence in it from Mortal Kombat, in the music and action. As well as it having the best actor playing Beowulf out of the Beowulf movies that i have seen. If you appreciate a classic saxon movie vamped with futuristic ideas you'll like it. If not don't buy it.

first, i saw beowulf 2007 movie at my sister's memorial day party after, i love this movie beowulf 2007 dvd better than beowulf 2000 dvd its okay i like it, better than beowulf 1999 dvd its okay its fair... that why i decide to buy it three different beowulf's dvd .. smile

LOVED IT WOULD WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. NOT FOR CHILDREN, BUT GREAT FOR ADULTS. GET A BIG BOWL OF POPCORN AND ENJOY.

Beowulf is a very good story, however this movie cannot be saved by the title alone. Christopher Lambert attempts to save this movie with his "Highlander" charm. There are some interesting moments , but the producers seemed more interested in cashing in on the legend rather than adding to its legend. The graphics are not bad and it has lots of action but it cant decide if this takes place in the future, past or is science-fiction. The Dragon/Creature at the end of the film was different than most I've seen, but to late to save the film. I gve it a no-go.

This is a B movie, so remember that if you pick it up. That said, it had a certain tongue-in-cheek flair and Christopher Lambert played the straight-man hero with his usual good naturedness. This movie suffers from Hercules-level CGI effects towards the end, and some poor choreography, but so long as you don't judge it by current film standards it holds up fine.

As for the Beowulf connection, not too much of one; it takes the essence of the myth and transposes it in a weird Road-Warrior meets Sword & Sorcery future. Just don't look too deeply and you will enjoy!
