Benny & Joon (DVD, 2009, Wedding Faceplate; Checkpoint; Sensormatic; Widescreen)

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. Benny (played by Aidan Quinn) cares for his mentally ill sister Joon (played by Mary Stuart-Masterson) - life gets difficult when Joon scares off yet another housekeeper/day-time adult care provider. Along comes Sam (played by Johnny Depp), a mentally ill young man who is living under the sink at Benny's friend's house. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll ask yourself, "Do you have any avacados?"

Johnny Depp does a great Buster Keaton/Charlie Chaplin immitation as the excentric movie buff turned housekeeper, won in a poker game by mentally ill Juniper Pearl. Worth the watch to see Depp bring Chaplin & Keaton's antics back to the screen. Romantic but not overly so. Fun flick all around.

This is a fun story put on by a perfect cast. I'm not a big Johnny Depp fan, but he really brings the character, Sam, to life. Adian Quinn (as Benny) is charming. Mary Stuart Masterson plays Joon so well, it's hard to beleive she's acting. I decided to buy this movie for my best friend - who is a huge Depp fan! She loved it too.

Great film starring Jonny Depp as an excentric (slow) man and the eaqually paired girl he falls in love with -- The very interesting thing about this film is that two people who society has written off as impossible to fall in love with and who are considered as unable to take care of themselves - End up falling in love and taking care of each other --- a Beautiful love story.

This is a very funny, yet heart-warming movie and Johnny Depp puts on a classic performance. I saw this movie for the first time with my teen-aged son. It was great movie to share and then talk about with him.

This love story of those who are slightly off will make you reconsider who is off. This greatly acted and told love story is full of whimisical moments of comedy and harkens back to the love stories of old. The story is heart warming, fun and sweet without being corny or over-the-top. Youwill enjoy this, your adolescents will enjoy this and your kids will laugh even if they don't understand it. Don't miss this one, it is a good time.

I just loved this movie when it first came out. I mentioned it to my granddaughter to see if she had seen it. She didn't, so I decided to order it online for her. She watched it 3 times in one night. This is a wonderful movie that a person never tires of.

I am a Johnny Depp fan to begin with. Benny and Joon is funny, romantic and touching. It highlights Johnny Depps amazing acting skills. The music for this movie was well chosen.

I actually bought this dvd because I am a huge fan of Johnny Depp! I thought it would be just another movie to add to my huge Depp collection. He is such an awesome actor and not too bad to look at either!! After watching the movie twice I have to say that Benny & Joon is one of his best movies. The characters are so fun and the actors do a great job! If you are thinking about purchasing this movie, I say go for it!! You won't be disappointed.

This movie is hilarious. The extras on the DVD are so-so, but the script is wonderful, the acting is marvelous. (Johnny Depp has said that he loved this role because it was so physical--he hardly has any lines.)

I just love the movie. It is because I like Johnny Depp and his character is awesome. His facial expression was perfect!

This was a very touching & romantic comedy about the struggles of life, love & relationships on many different levels. Very entertaining & rewarding 5-Star movie!!!

I decided to buy this movie after seeing part of it on a satellite channel. I really needed to see the entire thing. I don't want to give away even a snippet of the plot that would ruin it for a viewer but Both Mary Stuart Masterson and Johhny Depp give masterful performances that demonstrate the depth and breadth of their mastery over their craft. Jonny Depp's impression of Charlie Chaplain in one scene is enough reason to purchase! Get it....see it.....love it!

This is what I call quality film. Love at its finest. It lets viewers leave with the hope that there is someone for everyone, and I truly believe that there is. When you peel back all the layers and dig deeply into your heart, you will find that once you've found out who you truly are that is when you will find your true love. You most certainly have to watch this movie with an open mind and an open heart to truly enjoy it. I hope that you will at least give it a chance.

The dvd i bought didn't have any scratches. It looked like it hadn't ever been watched. I needed to buy it because i rented it from a store and lost it, but i'm going to keep this one and return another copy.

Benny & Joon has been a family favorite since it first came out. Johnny Depp is so darling as a little bit odd character (what else for him, eh?!) who falls for a mentally ill girl who has been sheltered by her older brother. Many endearing scenes with the right amount of humor. The theme song just begs the for kind of jump up and dance routine families bond too.

The movie is clean enough for children. One scene should be monitored however. That is when Joon acts out in anger towards her brother by lighting tissues on fire then watching them blow to the floor still burning.

It is safe to say romance was reinvented in this classic tale about a young Woman Joon mentally unbalanced and a young Man Sam who is a bit eccentric.. when Joons Brother Benny wins Sam in a poker game (yes a poker game)the fun begins..watch as these two unlikely lovers meet and the sparks fly..however big Brother Benny stands in the way, but they quickly find a sweet and funny way to get around him..This film is filled with drama, comedy and just the right amount of oops did I do that? be sure to watch for Johnny Depps funny as can be diner scene..Depp, Masterson and Quinn were perfectly cast in this funny uplifting and romantic comedy..This is definitely a cuddle movie..so grab your honey and cuddle!

Johnny Depp proves again that he can take on any role and carry it off!! Adorable movie with lots of warmth in the characters. Great love story. If you are a Johnny Depp fan, you will love this movie.If you are not yet a Johnny Depp fan, this movie may just pull you in!!!
