I decided to the book from ebay because the quilts shp did not carry it. I love Earlenen Fowler as an author and the quilt book was what I was looking for. Making a quilt from this book has been a lot of fun and my friends and I are looking forward to our next project. Thank you for carrying books that are not in our shops.

More about Benni is a good thing!
Review created: 05/06/08

I met Earlene Fowler last year at a Quilt Guild Meeting at which she appeared as our guest speaker. She brought a trunk show with her of all the quilts made by Margrit Hall depicted in this book. At the time I never read any of Miss Fowler's books but bought a few from her. During the ensuing months I purchased the remaining Benni Harper novels and started reading them.

Once fully engulfed in the characters of this series, I had to get Benni Harper's Quilt Album to read those tidbits that were not included in the novels themselves. The additional information about Gabe, Gamma Dove, Cousin Emory and others definitely fill out the character development and give you the details of events that are often referred to in the novels but not described in detail.

I also enjoyed the insights into the author herself and the actual photos she includes of the people and places she based the fictional characters and settings on.

I highly recommend this book for all Benni Harper fans be you a quilter or not. The quilts in this book are a bonus for all of us who like to quilt.

I am looking forward to the next Benni Harper Quilt Album.

Benni Harper's Quilt Album - stories and patterns
Review created: 04/09/08

This is a wonderful gift for any quilter who is a fan of reading Earlene Fowler's quilt mystery series books. Each of the books is titled after a quilt block and based upon the mystery solving of the lead character, Benni Harper. The "album" has a short story to go with each of the quilts shown. The stories fill in some of the gaps or details about the key characters. The quilts are presented well & the instructions are clear and concise. A great addition to any quilter's library - and a bonus if they are an avid reader of Ms. Fowler's quilt block mysteries.

  Benni Harper's Quilt Album

I was attracted by this book for two reasons. First, I have quilted for many years and am always interested in quilting books I don't have in my library. Secondly, I have read every one of Earlene Fowler Benni Harper mysteries and absolutely love them. The quilts featured in this book are based on the titles of Earlene Fowler's mysteries...all named for a popular quilt pattern. There is a lot of background on the quilt patterns and the mysteries, and also the personal life of Ms. Fowler. I found this aspect very interesting. The quilt patterns and sample quilts were done by a seasoned quilter and seem very clear and do-able. I haven't made any of the quilts...yet, but do plan to use this book often in the future.

  Great combination

This is a terrific 'combination' style book with stories by Earlene Fowler, and quilt designs...The stories fill in the gaps from her "Quilt" mystery series of books.
I bought it as it was less expensive than the local book store, and wanted to add it to my library of quilt books and patterns.
