Benji Off the Leash (DVD, 2004)

I admit that I am picky about the subject matter my kids watch, but we have loved many dog flicks. My children did enjoy this movie, but the adults did not. To me this was just a movie for the sake of a movie being out there. If you have followed my previous films reviews, I have stated a movie being great even if it was not one I would choose for my children. I would not choose this for them or me. There is some "abuse" from a father in this film, so there is disrespect by the child. It is also an animal rights movie. Aside from that, I still did not enjoy this film. Mine's up for sale.

I thought it was great to watch and our grandkids loved it. Would recommend to have for your family or to have on hand for grandkids.

I thought this was a great general movie for all family. Kids enjoyed it more but still a good family movie. Clean, can't hardly find that anymore.

A lot of good came from this movie. Every shelter that Joe Camp went to looking for a new "Benji" was emptied out. The subject matter, puppy mills, this movie covers is very important. As for an overall review of the movie, I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this movie. It didn't have the same "Zing" as the prior Benji movies. I will still keep the movie. It got better after about 30 minutes. My hope is that there will be more Benji movies to follow this one and they will be better. =)

We have a dog just like Benji and thought it would be a good Christmas present for the grandkids that have not seen our Bengi. Its a good Christmas story and tells of how santa was started. We really liked it.

I like the adventures of the animals and the boy.
I don't like the child abuse to the boy, the father is very abusive to the mother and the child.
I bought it for my 6 y/0 grandchildren and they loved it, but I didn't know there was child abuse in it. Otherwise, a good movie.

I bought this movie for my four year old and she watches it every night at bedtime. I like that it teaches caring for animals and that the content of the movie as a whole is decent for young and older viewers.

I would not let my kids see this one again because of the prevalent theme of child abuse that runs throughout the movie. The stepfather of the boy in the story is extremely abusive and I'd rather my boys not know about things like this until they're older and can handle this fact of life. I don't need them seeing it in what's supposed to be an uplifting, fun, dog movie. Not a happy movie even for much older kids.

I bought this as a gift but the recipient loves the movie. They had requested it because they saw the other Benji movie.
