the most striking, haunting book i've ever read.

It's hard to not be obsessed by this book. It's alot of psychology...thinly veiled autobiography. the honesty is what got me. It's hard to admit that you have psychological disorders...let alone write, in detail about trying to kill yourself and your obsessions. THe main character, Esther, is a great medium to learn about Plath. Her writing is impeccable and when I first read it, I wished she had lived to write more prose. It's a beautiful and stunning piece of work. Just as pleasing to hear and read as her poetry. If you like emotional work, if you can handle raw hate and despair, you need to read this. It changed my writing style. If you're a writer, you REALLY need to read this.

This is one of my favorite books! I had to buy it for one of my college courses, but it's definitely one that I enjoy reading outside of school as well. So gloomy and sarcastic, i love it!

This novel is deep and full of emotion. It is a tragic story, but beautifully written. The story is said to resemble the life of the novelist, and it leads you to believe that some of the events in the story reflected some of the experiences in her real life.

  READ IT

Fantastic book...very alike Sylvia Plath's actual life. Follows her character through her struggle with constant, unrelenting anxiety. Funny, endearing and horrifying at the same time. READ IT, you won't regret it.

The book was a decent read. I did not feel it was not as great as I had heard in other reviews. Starts out slow. Otherwise a pretty good read.

I used to always see the name "Sylvia Plath" in other books I read or in movies I've watched. Then this book was recommended to me and I finally bought and read it. IT WAS EXCELLENT. I couldn't put it down for one minute; it was so alluring!!!

Fictional telling of young award winning author Plath's decline in to the depths of mental illness. Riveting storytelling.

The book was a great read but the condition of the book was not as described - no brand new.
Book had highlighting, and had underlined notes.

~Great book! hard not to lose your mind reading it
Review created: 08/03/06

I liked the book because it is very real and enjoyable to read about her life. As the story goes on and as she very unobviously begins to lose her good mind, it grows a lingering sense of sadistic unempathetic rage of mental deterioration. Must read with an open mind to appreciate
