The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (1993, Paperback, Reissue)

It's hard to not be obsessed by this book. It's alot of psychology...thinly veiled autobiography. the honesty is what got me. It's hard to admit that you have psychological disorders...let alone write, in detail about trying to kill yourself and your obsessions. THe main character, Esther, is a great medium to learn about Plath. Her writing is impeccable and when I first read it, I wished she had lived to write more prose. It's a beautiful and stunning piece of work. Just as pleasing to hear and read as her poetry. If you like emotional work, if you can handle raw hate and despair, you need to read this. It changed my writing style. If you're a writer, you REALLY need to read this.

such a great book! I couldn't put it down, definatley one i will re-read again. Interesting with a beautiful writing style and a great story-line, a must read!

One of the best books...i will remember it for a lifetime.....the life of Sylvia Plath was wonderfully expressed.....it was a deeply sad but true story......i picked this book out of a pile of books one day just for reading enjoyment....i just happend to make a great choice

I have not started reading this yet as I am a ft student and mother I am lucky to get my homework read but I look forward to winter break and being able to start this book it was actually a book that was recommended from my English Lit. professor we are studing some of Plaths other works and I thought I would check it out since I enjoyed some of the other things I had read about her.

The Bell Jar is a great book, you can't put it down without wanting to go back to it, even after you finish! The story of her life is so interesting! If you like Girl, Interrupted you will love this book!
