A Bell From Hell is an incredibly original and atmospheric picture that caters toward the more sophisticated Euro Horror fans. This is definitely more of a psychological thriller than slasher fest. The story deals with a young man who upon his release from an insane asylum, vows revenge against his aunt and cousins who put him there. There's some spooky guy who lives in the woods with a young girl and is somewhat of a mentor to the young man. There's a lot of weird stuff going on here as far as sexuality, incest, and the slaughtering of cows. I don't know. You'll have to see it for yourself. I'm no film critic, but I had to chime in as a film lover and stick up for this one after I saw the only review here gave it a one out of five.
If you have an adventurous taste in movies, are a fan of Euro Horror, or just 1970's cinema in general, you won't be let down by this one. A Bell From Hell is a personal favorite of mine, and I feel it deserves it's place in film history next to the works of Jean Rollin, Fellini, Argento, and Romero.
