Behind the Personality -Florence Littauer

This is the 6th copy of Behind the Personality I have bought. A couple of years ago, Focus on the Family (radio show) featured a recording of a live appearance by Florence Littauer. I heard the show in my office at work and, while my radio was usually background noise, I heard Florence's voice and her humor -- and immediately turned the up the volume. The speaking engagement had been at least 10 years earlier, but her story was just as relevant and entertaining as if it were current.
This book is the memoir of Florence Littauer, her humble beginnings, her aspirations, and her quest to be respected and admired. It is one funny scenario after another until she gives birth to two handicapped sons. She addresses the heartbreak of broken dreams and hurts in a very personal way. She tells of attending a church fashion show luncheon (under duress) and getting involved in church -- at first out of curiosity but later giving her heart to Christ.
Florence married the PERFECT man -- only to learn afterwards that he intended to mentor and train her until SHE was perfect (and she thought she already was). Through prayer, she released her anger and frustrations with marriage and theirs became a strong, loving relationship devoted to Christian service.
I have shared this book with many at my church and have given it to several friends as birthday and Christmas gifts. CDs of the radio program may still be available at the Focus on the Family website. If you hear that 50-minute CD of Florence Littauer speaking to a women's group, you will immediately go to eBay or Half.com to buy this book.
Hilarious and inspiring! You will love it!
