Album Notes BEGEGNUNGEN II is the second collaboration between Brian Eno, the band Cluster and German producer Connie Plank. It was originally released in Germany; this 1996 reissue is its first U.S. release. Personnel includes: Brian Eno, Dieter Moebius, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Connie Plank. Brian Eno/Dieter Moebius/Hans-Joachim Roedelius: Brian Eno (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer); Dieter Moebius (keyboards, synthesizer); Hans-Joachim Roedelius (keyboards, synthesizer); Conrad Plank (keyboards, synthesizer). Recording information: Conny's Studio, Cologne , Germany (1985). Recorded during sessions for its similarly titled predecessor but released a year later, BEGEGNUNGEN II finds German composers Dieter Moebius and Joachim Roedelius, better known as Cluster, joined by their longtime friends and musical partners Brian Eno and Conny Plank. Eno fans should be aware that he co-authored only two songs, adding lyrics and vocals to "Broken Head" and composing the instrumental "Fur Luise" with Moebius and Roedelius; the other six songs were composed by Moebius, Roedelius and Plank, separately or in tandem. Due in part to Plank's influential productions for Ultravox and other British groups, the synthesizer was completely accepted as a musical instrument by 1984; technological advances in the instruments themselves mean that BEGEGNUNGEN II sounds warmer and more organic than Cluster's Tangerine Dream-like '70s releases. Like many early releases in the format, the CD version of BEGEGNUNGEN II contains longer versions of some songs than the vinyl LP.
