Not so good
I read this for my book club and all of us had similar feelings--it wasn't we thought it would be. The description on the back cover stated there would be some sort of mystery involved--there wasn't. Additionally, I did not like Mr. Bohjalian's writing style--he tended to go on long, diversionary tangents within sentences, so that by the end of the sentence, I couldn't remember what he was talking about in the first place. While the characters were lively and most were well-developed, I would not recommend this book. Many ladies in our book club had previously read Midwives by Chris Bohjalian and had loved it; they were surprised that he was the author of Before You Know Kindness because they didn't like it even half as much.
