Before I Wake by Dee Henderson (2006, Paperback)

I really like this author. The book is full of suspense. It is a Christian book and clean of any foul language. It is hard to put down.

I’m a true fan of Dee Henderson, and I was eager to read this book. Even though this book is good, I did not find this nearly as good as the O'Malley series which I have read and re-read many times. Although I still enjoyed this book and hope there is a sequel. Rae Gabriella left the FBI after years of dedicated service when a case went ugly. She accepts a position as a private detective at Chapel Detective Agency II, headed by her former Fed partner and boyfriend Bruce Chapel in Justice, Illinois. Thinking she can finally settle down, Rae begins to relax and discovers she has a sharing interest with both Bruce and the town's sheriff Nathan. Justice County Sheriff Nathan Justice has his hands full with a strike that could turn violent, and his grandfather. However, he soon has more to deal with when Peggy Worth is found dead in the same hotel Rae is staying at. When more deaths are being discovered and cannot be explained, the three end up working together to find out who and what is behind the murders. I thought this book gave an interesting look into the drug industry. The reader learns a lot about how drugs are made, marketed and sold unsuspectingly. I thought it was interesting that all the clues and suspects were right there, and no one picks up on it. One has to be careful about the samples they eat. The story line hints at a romantic triangle, but that simmers on the back burner as the trio work together to stop a clever silent killer. I felt the book ended to soon. While we find out who the killer is, there seems to be another story behind that which we find next to nothing about. The story line is action-packed as the tension mounts both personal and professional. Fans witness a tense suspense thriller.

Love this author and book was offered at a good price. Like new. Dee Henderson writes a excellent mystery thriller, spiced with romance and brings in religious teachings and living guides without taking away from story.

I am a big fan of Author Dee Henderson I have read most of her books and would recommend them to anyone who like suspense/romance.

I bought this book because I love Dee Henderson as an author. Every book I've ever read of hers keeps me up late at night! Her characters are not perfect, they sin and make mistakes just like the rest of us--they're real and realistic.
The story was very interesting. I couldn't wait to turn the next page, get to the next chapter, to see what was going to happen. A cliffhanger ending, so I'm hoping for a sequel very soon!! I've already read this book twice. That's another thing I love about Dee's books--you get more out of them by reading them more than once. Subtle nuances that you didn't get the first time through.
I highly recommend ANY book by Dee Henderson, and this one is excellent!!!!!

Dee Henderson is the quintessential Christian Fiction author. Her books are full of action, adventure, and intrigue. I highly recommend her!

This book is a decent mix of mystery and romance without being too sappy. The characters are strong and likeable. Christian values are an integral part of the characters but would not offend readers who do not share the author's convictions. Good recreactional read.

I really like suspense, but I don't like vulgar language or content. And Dee Henderson doesn't write like that at all. She is a clean author and yet she keeps the suspense in her stories. I loved her O' Malley series and figured I'd like this book as well. And just as I expected, I really did like it!

You can't go wrong with a Dee Henderson book! This one is as good as all her others, a real page turner.

I love Dee Henderson's writing. Every book I've read has been a nice escape from my everyday life. This book did not disappoint me. It was suspensful, romantic, and kept my interest.
