Before I Got Here by Blair Underwood (2005, Hardcover)

Blair Underwood appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and He promoted this book he complied and edited. Personally, I tend to lane more toward the agnostic but but My mother is very devout, faithful, and connected. Whether to God, A saint, the Church, Herself, an Angel, a past life, Me, some combination of these listed, or to some degree all of the above, my Mom loves and is loved. I knew Mom would appreciate this book in the spirit I gave it in as my loving gift and tribute to her on Mother's Day. Blair Underwood said his young daughter said some profound words that most rational people would contend someone of her years should not yet comprehend. He was so stunned by her display of compassion, and statement of love that he knew he needed to write her story and gather more like it from other amazed parents. I have heard one Sunday School teacher say once that Jesus said, "And a little child shall lead them." Sometimes children can teach us more than we can teach them. Maybe it is only fantasy and wishful thinbking but it is still providing immense and palpable hope and comfort that love will never perish. The idea that families form through devine design may be too fantastic to believe much less prove but it is worth considering. Childlike innocence coupled with divine wisdom make for a heartfelt expression of loving family bonds that I wish for every family. I'm no biblical scholar but the 13th chapter of 2nd Corithians seems approriate here. I'm not sure Paul got everything right but he nailed this one. I hope Blair Underwood sells a bunch of these. With so much hate, bitterness, and sorrow in today's world we could use a bunch more love from God, or parents, and our children. Buy "Before I got here," read it, call the person who raised if they are still alive, then hug your young children.
