Beerfest (DVD, 2006, Unrated Edition, Full Frame Edition)

This movie is exactly what I expected it to be. If you've seen Super Troopers or Club Dredd, then you know what you're in for. If you haven't seen any of the Broken Lizard troupe's previous comedies, they are comparable to a National Lampoon offering: juvenile humor, mild T&A, lots of dick and fart jokes.

Beerfest is the story of two young Coloradans of German stock who lose their grandfather, and are asked to go to Oktoberfest in Munich to set his remains in their rightful resting place. They are taken, by a German friend, to Beerfest - a sort of beer drinking olympics held in secret during Oktoberfest. Here they are ridiculed and humiliated by their German relatives, and grandpa's remains are desecrated.

To get revenge, the guys form their own American beer drinking team composed of a hotdog eating contest champion, a male prostitute, and a scientist who spends the bulk of his days "extracting" frog semen. Add in a lot of German women naked from the waist up, a secret recipe for the greatest beer ever invented, and a whole lot of "training" for next year's big event, and you have Beerfest.

In comparison with the other Broken Lizard films, I would say Beerfest is of about the same quality. It has some genuinely funny moments mixed in with a whole lot of mind-numbing stupidity. What really makes Beerfest special are what I like to call the "Man Show Moments," where every guy in the room has to stand up and cheer. It's one of those movies that will always be fun to watch when the guys are hanging out, having a few pints. Moreover, it pays no heed to political correctness, good taste, decorum, or any form of culture whatsoever.

Every guy I know has loved this movie, and so have most of their wives/girlfriends. Just don't take it out when anyone overly uptight or PC is around - it could make for an uncomfortable night of man bashing later. Much of the humor is in bad taste, and if people don't have a sense of humor about these things, they could be offended.

The group from Broken Lizard, the guys who brought us Super Troopers is at it again. This time the word, is DRUNK! All I can say is , if you enjoyed Super Troopers you will love this movie. It lacks intellegence, responsibility, and brain cells (thats because of all the beer they drink, of course). Sit back relax and watch entertainment at its best!

it was a funny movie, it's a great movie to watch with a group of friends. i can watch this movie over and over again.

The more I watch this movie, the more I like it. The first time I saw it I thought it was okay, but it grew on me. Now I think it is hilarious. I can't wait to see what Broken Lizard comes up with next.

Broken Lizard has done it again! a very funny movie. here's hoping they make a sequel. this is a movie i can call my own cause i am what you call a beer geek.

Another frat humor movie. Lots of fun to watch and finally, Broken Lizard got some bigger Hollywood names to appear in one of their films. Donald Sutherland in a bit role and Cloris Leachman give it some credibility. I rate this one just a hair below Club Dread.

I lost my last copy of this movie.. :( I missed being able to watch Broken Lizard's crazy antics...It is a great movie for those adults of proper drinking age who act like children at times. Great entertainment.

For anyone that wants to relive your crazy college days then this is for you. Two brothers travel to Germany for Oktoberfest to place their grandfather's ashes in a family shrine. They unknowingly stumble upon a secret beer drinking competition, participate in and go home after being defeated. They vow to come back next year with an American team to redeem themselves.

This movie will make you laugh out loud and will have you reliving your glory days in college and or your fraternity/sorority. With scenes of various drinking games and lots of beer drinking like the title implies this is a guy's night out movie for sure.

Hubby and I had seen the preveiws for this movie so of course I got it on EBAY because I knew I could get it cheaper..Cloris Leachman plays her part so well I dont know how the other cast members could keep straight faces and of course the guys did a great job as well and come out making the USA look great saving the family name (Gam Gams reputation is still questionable ) For a good laugh this movie is one to have.

NOT BAD. DIDN'T NEED TO RENT IT OR BUY IT BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY ON CABLE. HAD SOME FUNNY PARTS TO IT HOWEVER I WOULD NOT PURCHASE IT TO SEE IT AGAIN.

i bought the movie BEERFEST a few days ago cause it's just so so funny. BROKEN LIZARD, these guys they make the funniest movies! i enjoy everything about the movie... and the funniest thing is some of it true in real life! lol!

I watched this movie as soon as it was released in theaters. It was a very entertaining movie. I purchased the movie as soon as it came out on DVD. I definately recommend this comedy to everyone!
