Beep Beep by Playmates (The) (CD, Mar-2006, Collectables Records)

First of all, tracks 1 (complete original album version with intro), 4, 6 and 9 are true stereo. The re-mastering is sharp and crisp. The remaining mono tracks were re-mastered from various sources with mixed results. Total CD playtime is 25:23. All of the tracks are the original recordings - no re-records. As mentioned in the review title, would have rated this a 5, however, the CD lacks liner notes regarding the album - just an advertisement for select items from the record label and info on how to obtain a catalog. Would have been nice to have some information regarding the album and/or some history about the Playmates.

Don't pay any attention to the snobs. For pure love of oldies you can't beat this cd. There are 4 songs on the cd that made billboard top 40. All are original cuts. None of that "new recordings by the roadie or a close friend of the group". If you are old enough to remember you will hear all the classic songs as original. beep-beep, Jo Ann, Wait for me, Please don't go home. These were the kind of kids that made magic. Unlike today where you have to audition for a spot on a group, These guys were college buddies who liked to sing and so they did and the rest is history. Get the cd and put it on and play it with your headphones the first time. These songs were recorded with 1950's technology so you will not get the quality of today but, maybe that's not all bad. For pure enjoyment and a walk down memory lane give it a try.

I was looking for the "Beep Beep" song for a friend at work who could only remember the "beep beep" part of the song. Now she has the whole thing and so do I. Thank you for providing me with these items.

The cd was in excellent shape and the music has been very enjoyable to listen to. This CD has brought back some really good memories.

This is a talented if not well known group of the fifties. Their hit song "Beep Beep" is a classic, but the remainder of the selection is unremarkable at best, and oh so dated. Beep Beep, the classic stands the test of time beautifully.
