Beatles Complete Scores (1993, Hardcover)

This book has been on my mental wish list for quite some time. I finally made the purchase and regretted waiting so long. Yes, it has 1,200 pages, but those pages include every song the Beatles have written/recorded broken down for guitar, bass, piano and vocals separated into an easy to read tablature and notation presentation. Being a guitar player I was initially drawn in by learning George Harrison's clever chording that is not typically in my musical vocabulary. It really takes the guesswork out of learning these songs. What I was surprisingly drawn to was Paul McCartney's bass lines. If you've seen the Ed Sullivan performace of All My Loving in which Paul sings and plays this amazingly brialliant walking bassline while not even paying attention you know what I am talking about. I usually play bass like a guitar player so this book has been very helpful in learning specific bass techniques as well as ditching the root note pattern so prevalent in modern pop bass music. Did I mention that learning these songs has brought back a feeling of joy and discovery when playing guitar and bass that I have not felt since I started playing over 25 years ago. This book is definitely worth it in more ways than buying it for your primary instrument. It just may open some more musical doors for you.

A must buy. This book has it all. All those songs you grew up with from "Help!" to "Sgt. Peppers". It's all here. It's a neat little book. All 213 (I believe) songs. The tabs on help for some songs, but you at least need to know how to read rhythms on a staff and a basic-medium comprehension of how to read notes. I'm a drummer, but remembering what I learned in my 6th grade music class was enough for me to be able to play most of the rhythm guitar parts. Granted some took longer than others.Some people complain that the print is too small, but it doesn't bother me(Wear your glasses if you need to). Just a great book to have.

I've wanted this for a long time. It is, indeed, a complete collection of the music of the Fab Four, not only their original songs, but the songs they covered by other bands. The keys of the songs are (finally) correct, as is most of the guitar tab. My opinion is this is a great starting point for any musician. The authors have tried to include the music of each instrument, including violins, keyboards, etc. You can play along with each song and it will sound right. Combine this with To-A-Tee DVDs by Rob Thomas and you'll be playing just like the record.
My only complaint is that the book is smaller than standard size, making the print very hard to read.
All in all, I hightly recommend this book to anyone wanting to have access to the Beatles' entire catalog.

A great purchase to musicians or music lovers alike. All the Beatles tunes with complete sheet music and tablature for both bass, lead and rythm guitars. A definate recommendation to anyone trying to learn Beatles tunes but unsure of themselves. Don't hesistate, just buy.

A good way to learn Beatles songs. Most of the transcriptions are correct or close enough that you can get the rest. My biggest complain is that the type is small. I regularly need to get out a magnifying glass to see some of the parts. It's a thick book with alot of songs but still they could have made the pages larger. Having said that I'd recommend this to anyone looking to play the Beatles "like the record".. With this book and the CD of the song you should be able to get it right.

Hal Leonard has been publishing guitar playing books for almost as long as there have been guitars. And for a Beatle fan this is the ultimate. The complete scores of every song written and recorded by the FAb Four is here.

So if you are interested in knowing every note used in any song tis is your book. There are a LOT of songs, lots of pages- which also means somewhat small print face... Won't be easy for many of us as old as Paul or Ringo to just play from the book... But if you want to 'sound' like the Beatles- this is your chance... and certainly if you just want to noodle around this is also for you.

A gift for my boyfriend. He is a musician and sound technician. He loves the book and the price was unbeatable. 50% less than I found it elsewhere!! Well worth the money. You will not be disappointed.

I find the book very helpful when I play. especially giving the bass lines also. The only thing is the print is pretty small. I bought it because I used to have a beatles complete book years ago but it was stolen.
