The most comprehensive book ever written on the subject of the Beatles Apple label recordings. As a lifelong fan and collector, I always wondered about variations in the letter sizing, color variations of the apple and differences in pressing plants of these wonderful records. Bruce puts it in plain english and makes this a fun and entertaining read. Highly recomended for the Beatles enthusiast, or the casual listener that wants to learn about this important period in Beatle history.

Bruce Spizer's fab 4th book is a winner!
Review created: 08/27/08

By the time Bruce Spizer had released his 4th book in the critically-acclaimed series about the American-released books from The Beatles, he succeeded beyond even his wildest expectations. This volume entitled "The Beatles On Apple Records", first issued in 2003, carefully examines all of the groups record releases on their own Apple record label in America. It is truly a wonderful publication. It is interesting to explore all of the unique facets that help to make up the Beatles' Apple world. Starting off with an introduction about the company's beginnings, the book then moves on to the 6 singles from "Hey Jude" to "The Long And Winding Road". This is followed by the next section focusing on the albums, including stories about the 2 unreleased "Get Back" albums from 1969. The next section talks about Apple's triumphant return in the mid-90s, with the "Anthology" albums recieving an extraordinary amount of coverage. This book concludes with a look at the phenomenally successful "Beatles 1" from November 2000. It is interesting that a simple idea as "Beatles 1" would go on to become quite possibly the best-selling album of all time, worldwide. One of the best things about this book is in regards to "The Beatles' Christmas Album" from December 1970. All-in-all, Bruce Spizer succeeded with this book, and he would even surpass himself again with the next volume, "The Beatles Solo On Apple Records" which turned out to be the best one in the entire series.

Taking a Bite out of the Beatles Apple
Review created: 12/30/07

Jammed packed publishing chronology of the Beatle’s Apple label by Bruce Spizer covering every aspect possible of content that was published by Apple along with some terrific historical commentary during that time frame. My only wish is that this volume was condensed into a smaller package to easily be carried along on flea market outings. This is a super must-have for any Beatles enthusiast book shelf, though this book, more than likely, will be on the desk top and open, being read cover to cover, over and over. Enjoy.   Bruce Spizer's Beatle Books
Review created: 11/08/06

I liked the "Beatles on Capitiol Records" albums book. The one he did on the singles (Capitol) wasn't too bad, either. He has made the Beatles catalog into six books, so far. There is another book coming out next year on the Swan label Beatles output and several compilation albums. His books sell for $50.00 a pop. I couldn't believe that he made a $50.00 book out of telling us about 15 or 16 songs(VJ releases). After all, other than the "Introducing the Beatles" album, a few singles, and a "Interview" album, VJ cheated the record buying public with two more albums, "Beatles vs. the Four Seasons" and "Songs, Pictures, and Stories", which was the same music in the same running order! I dunno, his books are well put together, but pricey. He knows that the Beatle fans will buy them. I think he should have condensed a few and not make us buy six or seven books for his reviews. His information seems factual, and he even invites the reader to find "Mistakes" to which he will grant a "No-Prize", whatever that is. If he had of made the entire Capitol output into one book, made the Apple 45s and albums into one book, and put the rest into a third volume, I think that would have made better, more comprehensive reading, and a much better value for the Beatle buying public.
His books are well put together and have nice pictures of all of the Beatle picture sleeves and albums, and contains factory pressing info. If you like the Beatles as much as I do, and you have three hundred dollars to spend, buy them. Although the first book on the VJ records recently went out of print and is being auctioned off for upwards of $400.00!!!!
