Beads of Doubt by Barbara Burnett Smith
Review created: 04/22/08

This book is part of the Kitzi Camden Mysteries. "Bead on Trouble" was the first of the series. I do not think I will be compelled to go back to read the first book. This story begins and flows without mention or ties to the prior book - I like that!!~ I would hate to start reading and think I should be reading the other book first.
I create jewelry and found the book while I was searching for "beads" on Ebay. I enjoy the beads, baubles, and bangles described throughout the story. The mystery was good. I would have enjoyed a little more sizzle in the romantic angles.

  Beads is a good finish

I liked her first bead book, and am sorry that due to her untimely death this is to be her last. If you liked BEAD ON TROUBLE, you will find the familiar characters and good storyline easy to fall back in love with. If you are new to Barbara Burnett Smith's writing, PLEASE read the first in this 2 book series "Bead on Trouble", you won't be disappointed. I have only this series of hers to go by, but plan on reading the other stuff she has written as well.

A Really Great Read for Final Work
Review created: 09/05/07

This book is a great Sequel to Bead on Trouble. The author was killed prior to its completion and had the final 50 pages completed by Karen MacInerny (Grey Whale Inn series)as a request by the family. The book is fun, follows the previous story line well and talks a lot about Ovarian Cancer Awareness. The book is set in Austin, with lots of landmarks that everyone will recognize. You will enjoy the lightness and the mystery.

This one will see a second printing run. It is as good as the first. The author matches her charm and wit from her first series Purple Sage series.
