James Patterson again joins up with Peter DeJonge (Beach House) for a novel set in the posh and pristine communities of The Hamptons. For the Patterson faithful, this is everything you expect in a James Patterson novel and nothing more. Patterson's style of book writing is almost like reading a script for a t.v. movie. The chapters are extremely short, the dialogue and action sequences are quick and character depth is quite shallow. Just when I think I can't take anymore of his predictable writing style, I think about Alex Cross and the Woman's Murder Club. Oh Well!
Without giving too much away, the story line revolves around the death of a black basketball player and the three white Hampton kids who are accused of his murder. Tom Dunleavy, a former professional basketball player and local East Hampton legend teams with his ex-girlfriend, Kate Costello, to try and get to the bottom of it. There are plenty of plot twists, which is one thing Patterson is good for and, as promised on the dust jacket, the ending will comletely throw you.
