After seeing the first series, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this 2nd set. It really brings out the futuristic reality of human/machine/cyborg interaction, even though it's via a violent conflict. The adventures of the Battlestar crew are projected in a very real personal manner, which twists the emotions. The package holds 10 episodes that equal a "season", which takes the viewer through the crisis of Adama recovery right through to the discovery of the Tomb of Athena. I won't give away secrets, because you have to see what happens to Starbuck on Caprica, along with the other side stories. My recommendation, to interested collectors/ viewers, is to really consider bidding on the series, starting with the Mini Series package, then the Series #1 collection then # 2. I can’t wait to see the continuation of this space adventure/ drama as it ends with a very interesting “to be continued” story. Included in Series #2 are the deleted scenes and Podcasts of each episode, which makes this package well worth the bid. Enjoy!

  Better than Season 1
Review created: 11/02/07

As has been pointed out several times, "Season 2.0" is only HALF of Season 2. Sci-Fi programmed a 3-month hiatus into the schedule so the final 10 episodes that aired beginning in 1/6/06. If you just have to have this as an Xmas gift, by all means do so; you'll enjoy the midseason cliffhanger as much as the rest of us. It'll probably be cheaper to buy the for a complete Season 2.5 volume, however and there may be added bonus features.

"Season 2.0" is a bit of misnomer even discounting it's only the first 10 episodes of Season 2. Sci-Fi didn't pay for a full Season 1 so some of the plot threads from that aren't tied up until Season 2 Episode 5. In effect what you have are the final 5 episodes of Season 1 plus just *5* episodes of Season 2. However it all works out in some bizarre non-Euclidean fashion. The episodes pretty much stand on their own merit and you don't need a reference card to keep track of what's going on. Season 2 is darker, richer, and more plot-driven than Season 1 and the Cylons still have some tricks up their sleeves to show us. The mid-season cliffhanger is logical, satisfying, and the end and leaves you breathless waiting for the resolution.

The Colonials now know where Earth is but it's a *long* way off and the Cylons are hot on their heels. Boomer's child is a key plot element and will have a significant impact on the storyline at some point. There are big things in store for the crew of Galactica.

I purchased Battlestar Galactica a number of weeks ago and have since watched the 3-dvd set in its entirety. I liked the re-cap that each episode did at the beginning, which helped new viewers such as myself, transition into the series. Never having watched the original series but being a fan of sci-fi, the stories were decent and well written and the space scenes were excellent with very interesting camera effects. I liked the fact that the set was a "slim" case DVD set, which helps take up less room on my shelf. My main and only complaint is the fact that this DVD set only covers the first half of the second season and you are left hanging for the conclusion of the final DVD episode. Nowhere on the DVD box or the DVDs themselves does it state this fact, I had to find this out when I went to the actual website for the show and discovered that the second half would be released later on in the year. All in all though, I recommend this series and this box set, especially if when you can buy it inexpensively here on eBay versus out in a retail store with its price mark-up.

Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 - Great Product!

I am a huge Battlestar Galactica fan. Basically if you like the show you're going to like the DVD. I considered buying it new in stores but it was so expensive, like fifty-five dollars on average. I bought a used copy for around twenty-five at a local store, but you can get a good deal on a used copy on Ebay, too.
It IS season 2.0, so it only has the first half of the season. (The second half hasn't been released on DVD yet.)The DVD also includes the podcasts, commentary about the episodes by Ronald D. Moore, for most of the episodes. It also has deleted scenes from almost all the episodes, which I really like because you can learn extra stuff about the characters that you didn't necesarily get in the show. For example, there's this one deleted scene in "Valley of Darkness" where you learn some more stuff about Starbuck's past. The commentaries also bring a lot of stuff to light that you might not have noticed or picked up on when watching the show.
I rewatch the episodes on season 2.0 whenever I have time. Each time I see an episode again I notice new stuff about the plot or characters. Even though I've already seen all these episodes and know what's going to happen, they are still interesting the second time around - or the third, fourth, etc.
Like I said, if you're a fan of the show, you're probably going to like the DVD. It has a lot of great extras and I highly recommend it. Plus you can get a good used copy on Ebay for a lot less than what you'd pay in a store.

  Spectacular! This is TV?

The new Battlestar Gallactica is amazing. From someone studying film in school, this is probably the best sci-fi show I have ever seen. (Possibly tying with Firefly). The character depth is even deeper and the special effects are of course spectacular. Story lines are becomeing stronger and mroe defined, but still with a spotenaity which really keeps the show fresha and moving. I am deepley intrigued by the Bathazar/Number 6 relationship, and can't wait for more.

Season 2 picks up right where season 1 left off!

Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 is a 10 episode television series that aired on Sci-Fi. Season 2.0 contains all 10 episodes from the second season along with deleted scenes and podcasts for each episode.

The first episode list is as follows:
Scattered
Valley of Darkness
Fragged
Resistance
The Farm
Home (Part 1)
Home (Part 2)
Final Cut
Flight of the Phoenix
& Finally Pegasus

This season starts where season 1 left off, Adama is in light threatening condition and ExO Tigh trying to not frack things up to much, which he ends up doing.

The rest of the 9 episodes are dealing with the fallout from Col. Tigh's brief stay in power. You find out what happens to Starbuck and we get to explore more of Kobol. The final episode brings a ray of hope as a long lost Battlestar, the Pegasus, arrives. However, all is not what it seems.

A great story is being told of humanity trying to survive after a cataclysmic event. Awesome.

5/5

One Fantastic New Spin on an Old Series!
Review created: 07/07/06

I will freely admit that I was hesisitant about watching yet ANOTHER remake of an old series, but I am sure glad that I did, after the very first episode of the first season alone I was hooked! The cast is widely varied with certainly no shortage of continuing character development and plot twists that really leave you guessing as to whats coming next and who the next cylon is! It has my top recommendation!

The new Battlestar Gallactica is isn't at all like the original series (other than a few terms and plot), but the thoughtout depth and complexity of the story and characters. Not to mentiong the truly increadable and breathtaking special effects, which rival even some hollywood movies, make this new(er) version of the original series a winner in my book! Be careful though, you watch 2-3 episodes and you will easily be dragged into this action packed, space opera - drama series!

  Battlestar Galactica on DVD.......UTOPIA!!!!!
Review created: 07/02/06

Buying the DVD of Battlestar Galactica was a great investment. A typical episode takes about 40 minutes to watch because there are no commercials. And you can watch as many as you want at one time. I love this show!!! Buying the DVD on Ebay makes good sense, because you can save almost $20 versus buying it in a store.

I am a fan - you might be too -

I admit it - I am a sci-fi fan. Not a nut - but a fan. I really liked the original Battlestar Galactica, so I was hesitant when this new version first came out. They made the new series similar - but different. And that was a smart move. It is more up to date - and yet evokes a feeling of the past show. Some characters are familiar - others are not. For example, the character of Starbuck, 1st played by Dirk Benedict who went on to star in the "A-Team" is now played by a woman. And surprise, she is really good. The show series started off as a 3 part miniseries, and when it got picked up a year later for a full run they spent a little more money on it so the effect and stories improved. The show is captivating once you "get into it" Give it a chance - you might really like it.

This show is definitely a rival to Star Trek. Those shows are so full of fantasy while this show makes everything feel gritty and real. Often times I yell at the tv when I watch this show because I get so engrossed.

The only danger of having this on dvd, is that you can't stop watching. It'll be 4am and you'll hear yourself say, "I'm going to watch just one more episode!"

Best drama I've watched in a loooong time! Love it!!!! The plot is dynamic and the characters are well-developed. Not to far into the realm of Sci-Fi to be realistic for those who aren't avid Sci-Fi fans. Highly recommended!!!!

  Battlestar Junkie
Review created: 08/06/06

My husband, son and I are official junkies of this series. There are great plot twists and we are always talking about some of the plot lines. Although the moral questions regarding treatment of robots vs humans is interesting I don't enjoy the level of violence (rape and torture) especially against the female cylon. I understand that the plot gets even darker this season. There may be a point where I won't enjoy it anymore but the movie and the early episodes and really up there in my book.

Review created: 06/01/09

One of the best shows I have ever watched. So addictive, that when I actually make myself stop watching it, its all I can do to get the plot out of my head while trying to work.

We own our own business.....sitting around all day watching dvds, does not make for a very productive day. But.....I cant seem to stop frakking watching, lol!
