Battlefield 2142 (PC Games, 2006)

I've played the demo for quite a bit now and I must say it is pretty impressive. The graphics are a few notches above Battlefield 2's. The gameplay is very similar, same controls and same basic commands. If you've played BF2 it won't take long to get used to this game. However the guns are very different as are the vehicles. I'm still getting used to the guns, so far I don't really care for them, but I guess I'm just used to the advanced unlocked BF2 weapons. I assume BF2142's unlocks will be a cut above the average guns as well. The Titan mode is absolutely great. Its a very innovative game mode where you have to destroy the other teams floating "mother ship". You do so by capturing bases which will have missile silos, once you capture a base the missile silo starts firing missiles at the enemy titan at regular intervals. Then once the titan's shields are down you can destroy it faster by blowing up 4 computer terminals inside it, and then finally blowing up the core. Overall this game is absolutely amazing, I can't wait to play the Retail version.

It's basically a glorified modification of BF2 and acutally includes spyware that monitors your internet usage to better target the ingame advertisements (search google for more info) You would think that advertisements would translate to a lower price for the end consumer but it does not! Way to go EA.

I love Battlefield, and am only reviewing this product from out of the box. My PC has a 2Ghz CPU, 1 GB Memory, and 128mb ATI. It has all the requirements to play Battlefield 2142. I play Battlefield 2, with the same requirements, all the time. Battlefield 2 runs great. Now Battlefield 2142 claims the same requirements, but it runs so laggy! Their is no doubt that this game isn't great, but their is definately doubt that it wont run on the minimun requirements. I have everything set to low and all the audio turned off possible. I have patched, etc.. It still lags out, and the speech echos.

I reccomend not to purchase this game if you barely exceed the System Requirements. If I get it running, I will edit this review. I am going to try a 256mb video card next.

Graphics amazing, it is very fun to play, very team oriented. So if you do not play as a team on your server you will not like. GAME OF THE YEAR!!!

Played , beta, demo, and now full game. I have played all of the series. This new 2142 finally has a buddy list to find people in game and connect. Also the squad leader beacon allows the spawn point to be placed and then the squad leader can go into battle, instead of BF2 where he had to hide as not to die. All new titan mode has a little for both tastes, you can fight in big area on the ground as well tight enclosed corridors of the Titan. Ohh and also very uneducated people say there is spyware in it. Well you better stop visiting , yahoo,aol,google, or most any web page as they all know your ip address anyway. This game does have your ip address information, but its for placing billboard in the game with adds on them. This in no way detract from gameplay or speed(noticable). Some also may say its just a mod of BF2. Well with so many good things in BF2, Keep the same feel but modernize it!! great idea!!

the titan mode is going to be the biggest improvement to this game over BF 2 because it makes game play more realistic by eliminating tickets and command posts

I bought Battlefield 2142 the day it came. Even drove 50 miles to get it. I knew it was based on the Battlefield 2 graphics engine so i figured it would be similar in "fun factor", but in my opion it's not nearly as good. The maps aren't designed as well, they're either too large or too crowded. Also, haveing to unlock stupid stuff like, for example, grenades, diffibulator, or even the ability to run futher (which were already available on BF2). This drags out gameplay, when you could be getting to the good stuff. Titan mode is basicly conquest, except you don't capture the "flag", you take "silos" then board the titan and blow up the core. Again, like the maps, the titan wasn't designed as well as Dice and EA could've made it. (talking about genral layouts, not graphics). All-in-all, same gameplay style, same graphics quality as BF2, but it just feels like the game was thrown together when more time should have been done designing.

I think this game isn't worth the money,graphics arent realistic the game play kinda boring maps are to big ,actually it gets boring after 15 minutes,stay with battlefield 2 its alot better of a game!!

The game looks and handles great -however, it seems very similar in movement, response and action to BF2. This would have a great Mod for BF2 (like Desert Combat was for BF 1942). Overall, the new weapons and different types of gameplay, plus the buddy-list feature do add to the game.

As usual the game comes with its unexpected exploits and bugs out of the box. There is already a patch out for it, so let's see what the next glitch will be.

In summary -still great game play, nice new weapons, and new game modes. A winner, but I'm still working my way through BF2.

Ea should have fixed Bf2 first and people that are buying 2142 are fools, just because Ea is going to do the same thing with this game not support it after 2 yrs

Game is fine, graphic is awesome, rankings are inviting.
Minuses:
- Doesn't support widescreen.
- After you've earned Brigadier General, there will be several unlocked weapons left, and there is no way to unlock them. Choose wisely.
- Patch after patch, DICE says they fixed chopper shields, but still, with shields up, chopper can be shot down.
- There are plenty of hacks where PunkBuster is helpless.

didn't really like it, I liked the original and all the expansions, but this one is based mostly on internet game play. Only has 4 maps for individual game play

This is sort of like BF2.. BUT its futuristic and has new weapons... And is just an awesome game ... the maps are awesome .. they are not too big or too small .. they are about the same as BF2... Its an awesome game and i deffinitly recommend it.... IT rules!!!!

I think that the game is awesome. Obviously there are alot of bugs but thats cause EA games made it... lawlz But the game is really set up nicely. A realistic future setting and neat toys to play with. Ill be playing this one for a while!

My rating is not for 2142 but is based instead on my experience with BF2. I have BF2, and although the 1.4 patch got rid of the crashes that the 1.3 patch caused, my game exprience with BF2 was overall a disappointment. One patch after another, patches to fix patches, etc. Even after the 1.4 patch, the game is still glitchy. Wall glitch, ghost bullets (shoot somebody in the head with sniper rifle with no kill), or blast them with machine gun point blank, no kill. They shoot u once and your dead. Game is also a hackers paradise. Punkbuster is useless. Just a matter of time before 2142 is hacked up. By the way, just noticed today EA has already released a patch for 2142(probably 1 of many). Here we go again.

I have played the demo and i think the game is great i think EA has done alot to the game and i think it is really cool...and it's not a POS i think it is so much different from BF2 thats y not very many ppl like it

I really like the game, but the one I bought was registerd to someone else so I could not play it, so be careful when purchasing used games. I bought a new copy and love it!!! see ya on the battlefield.... buzznod

Battlefield 2142 takes you into the far future, for all-new warfare in a world that's familiar but still different. As a new ice age depletes the planet's resources, two multinational coalitions wage a brutal war for the only cause that matters - survival. The EU and PAC are armed with devastating futuristic weaponry and gear, plus Battle Walkers and vast airborne bases called Titans.

I personally prefer Conquest mode - Titan games can take FOREVER!! Conquest mode is the same as in Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 2 => you take over spawn points to reduce the other team's number to 0. If you want to go up in rank quickly the best map to play is definitely Camp Gibraltar. It is a smaller map and games can get over quickly. Focus on getting the badges for each weapons class and awards for kill streaks, etc. This game is definitely more playable than CS or others that I have tried out. The revive feature is a major plus!

This is a great overall multiplayer game. Good graphics & addictive reward system - as you earn point you get to unlock new weapons & equipment. There are two different type of multiplayer games - the new "Titan Mode" is a refreshing change to the typical "capture the flag" type games. Don't bother playing this game if you want to play single player & pay attention to the system requirements. I would recommend atleast 2GB RAM & a really nice video card or its going to be choppy. Theres also a big improvment in the multiplayer menus when compared to BF2.

EA Games released this game before it was ready - they had to release a critical patch within 1-2 day of its release. They've released several since then and there are still several glitches & ways for players to cheat. Also, there should have been more maps in the original game but I'm sure EA is just holding back so they can sell you more maps in the next mission pack/expansions

You might just thinkthat Battlefield 2142 is just another copy of Battlefield 2 set int he future. Well that could not be further from the truth. The ranking system has been completely revamped to allow for special weapons and abilities to be unlocked as you level up. The network stability has also been addressed so random disconnects from the Battlefield servers have been dealt with.

The game also has some hefty requirements to run it. Unless you have at least 512 MB Ram, don't even bother. Your frame rate will be significantly low and will hinder your gameplay. I have a fairly old graphics card (3 years old) and the game runs perfectly fine. If you have problems, just set the graphics to low. You don't need to see the dust flying in high def anyway. You'll be running away since it's most likely a mech heading your way to blow you away!

If you're looking at this game for single player, you've obviously never played a Battlefield game. This is not meant for single player at all. Not to say that battling extremely easy computer bots is fun, but nothing compares to a 64 person battle over the internet.

Overall, if you enjoy hundreds of hours of online gameplay, this is the game for you. Buy Battlefield 2142 today!!!

This is the best battlefield to date. Every time they make one they make an improvement from the original. Beets the fun out of battlefield 2
