Perhaps the most serious World War II game ever to be created, BATTLEFIELD: 1942 puts you in charge of a variety of vehicles, in missions that span the globe. The long list of campaigns (there are more than 50) will take you to locales like Northern Africa, the Pacific, and all parts of Europe. Not only will you be at the epicenter of aerial dogfights and tank battles, youll actually face the horrors of hand-to-hand combat in the jungles and on the battlefields. There are a handful of gameplay modes to choose from, including standard and limited Deathmatch modes, as well as Capture the Flag. Taking full advantage of the Xboxs potential, the game serves up amazing graphics, sound effects, and gameplay options. Internet play allows you to hook up with dozens of other gamers to build intense simulations, which makes team play incredible.
