Battle of the Planets - Vol. 1 (DVD, 2001)

Well, this was from the 70's and 80's and was the same era as the transformers, he-man etc. It was the first ever Japanese manga series that was released in the USA, and it was soooo cool. There were a few problems with the show however, as the US butchered the Japanese cult show once they acquired the license, by editing most of the blood, and violence, and instead, inserting a rather cheesy robot character called 7 Zark 7, and also butchered the plot of each episode. Still, it doesn't retract from the wonderful anime, and the retro feel of the whole series.

Each DVD contains 3 episodes, which I would have hoped would have had more, but it contains the Japanese equivalent, so its okay.

I brought all the episodes of this series, and you get to watch the japanes equivalent of each episode in full glorified unedited bliss.....however.... its in Japanese, and poses a slight problem. But you get the english sub titles which is okay. All in all, for bringing back those wonderful memories of this fabulous series, its a full thumbs up, and I would highly recommend this to any one who likes anime, or who loved the show, which was called, gatchamn, battle of the planets, and or G force.
