I love the movie! I remember it as a kid and finally got a chance to buy it on eBay. It's a cute family flick that is entertaining and heartwarming for all ages. Legends Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy (real-life husband and wife)are among the impoverished residents of a slum tenement threatened with demolition by evil land developers. Only a miracle can save Cronyn, Tandy, and their friends -- and that miracle manifests itself in the form of a "family" of extraterrestrial flying saucers, who need the electricity provided by the tenement to survive. The grateful humanized spaceships repay their earthbound hosts by doing battle with the villains' henchmen. When the building is engulfed in flames, all seems lost, but the aliens have a few more tricks up their metallic sleeves.

I bought this item because I couldn't find this classic movie anywhere and I haven't seen it since shortly after it came out.

If you like ET you will like this film it's about a group of poor tenants on a new york's Lower East side who find there homes are to be demolished by a ruthless developer who wants the land that there home's are bilt on any way the feisty group are delighted when a few visitors from outer space drop in to help out...fild with dazzling special effects, this amusing story of intergalactic warmth stars the acclaimed husband-wife team Hume Cronyn and jessica Tandy as two long term tenants whose faith is rewarded in ways they never would have expected. This is a truely exciting film from start to finish and i'd say go buy this film you will love it i no i did i bought this film because i rember it as a young lad and i no you wont be disappointed this is a fantastic film i give it a 10/10 & a special thanks go's to steven spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy,Frank Marshall,Ronald L.Schwarz and matthew Robbins for making this film.

I remembered this as a cute family movie from the mid eighties.
As it wasn't available as a rental at the movie store I was glad to get it off eBay for a reasonable cost and on DVD.
Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy (a real life husband and wife team) are an awesome pair in this movie. My 13 and 15-year olds were glued to the set though the whole show and said that.." for an older movie the little flying saucer aliens were well blended in and did not look too fake next to live actors"
The story line is nice, just enough comedy and drama mix. I recommend this little gem to anyone!

This was one of a series of Hume Cronyn/Jessica Tandy movies. It is not their best, but they do succeed in demonstrating their remarkable acting abilities. While not like "Cocoon," it is still exceptional... because of the actors, who all do a magnificent job.

This movie was made in a time when Hollywood's "Small, Cute Creatures Mode" was beginning to wane. Previously, there'd been movies like "Gremlins" and "Critters."

The story line is very well done. The arrival of the tiny visitors from outer space begins to change the lives of good people who have lost hope. There is sorrow, fear, hope and joy in this movie. There are good guys and bad guys, all artfully portrayed by the various actors. The actors are convincing; there is not one dud actor in the bunch.

The special effects are very good for the time period.

The tale is heartening, and uplifting. It is cute and sentimental. Anyone who likes a story of decent individuals triumphing over adversity will enjoy it.

I have always liked this movie but was never able to find it. I saw it here on E-bay and just had to have it. This movie truly shows you the value of friendship and trust.

Love it when I first saw it and now shared it with my kids and they loved it to. Wonderful and shows the kids that there are mysteries out there and anything can be possible

There are a few themes that young children won't understand (unwed mom, alzheimers, etc.) but, for the most part, this is a charming family movie. I highly recommend it!

I loved this movie growing up. It was the first movie we had on beta! We watched it over and over and it has all those 80s movie elements I like. I find it similar to ET. A cute family movie that reminds me of Coccoon and ET. Great for the kids!

My husband loved this movie when he was younger but, we could never find it any where. So when I found it on ebay,I knew I just had to get it.

I saw this movie and I really enjoyed it, so when I was on e-bay I saw it and I know I had to have it, it's a very sweet movie and my grandkids love it

This is a very cute movie.It is one of them family movies where you can all enjoy it no matter the age of the person.It will make you laugh and cry so have tissues ready.It is a must see.

Old movie that is fun to watch everytime. Had the VHS version and finally took time to look for DVD version and enjoyed watching again.

This is a great movie about a bunch of misfits that live an an old apartment building. The money hungry land owner wants to tear down their tiny old building to build an office building. The tennants are reclusive and seem a bit crazy in the beginning but as the story unfolds, the heartache of each individual is revealed.

Tiny machine-like critters show up fix things at night. The tennants start to get to know each other as each searches for who has been mysteriously fixing things.
What they end up fixing is each other and their own hearts.

These Sky-scrappers of our past are part of our history and they are being torn down daily in cities all over America for the sky-scrappers of today. This is the story of one, small in comparison sky-scrapper that that refused to die and with the help of its tenants and some smart machines defied the system and remained standing to be surrounded by the giants of today! Full of drama, romance and laughs you will love this movie as I did.

Batteries Not Included is an excellent movie. One movie worth spending your money on. I promise you won't be disappointed if you buy this movie. It will keep you laughing & crying all through the movie. If your not sure you want it for your movie collection. I sugguest you rent it first and watch it. You will want it for your movie collection.

i owned this movie on vhs and had to get on dvd,i have a big colection and wanted to add this to it.

I saw it on television and just had to have it. This is an absolutely delightful movie, in my mind Steven Spielberg's best although it will never be as popular as his more famous titles. This is a winner! Cronyn and Tandy are wonderful and the supporting cast is really good too. I am 65 years old but kids will love this movie too.

This is such a great family movie--old & young alike can enjoy this! I had been looking in retail for this and had not been able to find it so was delighted when I saw it offered on E-Bay.

I remembered seeing this when it came out & liking it. I was shocked that my wife had never seen it so I bought it to share with her & my young kids. It's still a great movie & everyone enjoyed it. Lots of fun.

It is a wonderful movie. My boys just loved as kids.I now have grand kids I want to share it with. This is one of those old time classics.
