Batman: Elfman vs Prince
Review created: 05/23/09(updated 05/23/09)

If you consider Tim Burton's Batman a great movie, you should have both soundtracks. I am more into the score rather than the songs used in the film. So it may sound a little bias.
This is not the uber awesome-ist score you'll ever hear, but it does have enough for me to say it's very good. After having watched the movie at least 10 times, (I had the VHS and it was on tv several times), the score doesn't sound as powerful alone as it does on screen. Some score albums are powerful enough to stand listening to on its own; this one doesn't quite make it for me. Don't get me wrong, I still love listening to it and I am a Batman fan. This one is still one to get.
My favorite tracks, besides the main theme, are:
7. Batman to the Rescue
13. Childhood Remembered
15. Charge of the Batmobile
16. Attack of the Batwing
18. Waltz to the Death
19. Final Confrontation, The
Overall, I'm not sure how much more they could have added to make this a better album, it's already crammed with most of the movie, but it doesn't matter, it's Batman, it's Elfman, it was part of a very good movie. As a Batman fan, it's a must have.
In case you're wondering, I would want to have given this a 4.5/5 rating, and the soundtrack with the Prince songs a 3.5/5.
