Top Reviews Review created: 01/07/07 by: 7 of 8 people found this review helpful. Batman Forever Val Kilmer takes over as Batman and does a pretty good job. Batman Forever also introduces Chris O'Donnel as Robin. The villains are pretty cool (The Riddler and Two-Face) and the actors that play them do an admirable job. Although a little too cartoony for me, I enjoyed this movie. The only problem I have with Batman Forever is that it gets old fast. Overall it's a decent Batman movie, but it's nothing spectacular. Final Verdict: 3/5 Rent or Buy?: Batman Forever is a must buy, it gets old fast, but it's the kind of movie you can rewatch every month or so without getting bored. Val Kilmer actually manages to pull off a pretty good Batman in this movie. I can't quite figure out though why they didn't keep Michael Keaton. In this movie Batman meets up with Poison Ivy(Drew Barrymore) and The Riddler(Jim Carey). Review ID: 10000000002122225 Was this review helpful? Report this review Reviews Review created: 07/05/08 by: This was a major turning point for the "Batman" franchise, and it was not a good turning point to say the least. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't as bad as the movie it preceded(Batman & Robin), but it paled in comparison with the work Tim Burton did in "Batman" and "Batman Returns". Joel Schumacher was selected to make a new Batman movie that was more family friendly and nowhere near as dark as Burton's movies. The result was a bad script, a different less fit for the role actor playing Batman, and a lot of corniness and nostalgia taken from the 60s Batman that Tim Burton did so much work to keep out of his movies. If you are under 12, I'd say watch it and you'll love it. Otherwise, I'd say to go with Batman Begins from Christopher Nolan or one of the first two from Tim Burton. Report this review I last saw this movie ten years ago. I had thought that it was one of the better ones of the BATMAN quintology. Now after watching it again - for the first time - I cannot believe that anyone would think Val Kilmer to be appropriately cast as the Batman. His portrayal of this complex character comes off as unbelievable and rigid. The only saving grace of this movie is of course, Jim Carey. He actually stole the show and made the movie enjoyable!
