Bates' Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking by Lynn S. Bickley M.D., Peter G. Szilagyi (2007, Package)

Book is one edition old but in excellent brand new condition. The included CD package has never been opened. The shipping was very fast. Can't ask for more. Best of all, I saved a lot of money for not buying the current edition which is very expensive, at least $50 more.

Required/suggested text. Its a relief from the overwhelming minutae of most medical education because it is very clear and direct. It is not definitive, but a starting guide. I use it for my class case studies.

I had just recently purchased the ninth edition of Bates' Guide to a physical examination. It was a requirement for a course and I found that the 9th edition was comparable to the 10th edition with very little change. Also a added bonus was the professor taught directly from the 9th edition; making it very easy to follow along with this book. It is very descriptive with many pictures. It also provides in the side margins descriptions of medical conditions that correlate with the physical exam techniques you are performing. This is a very descriptive and useful study tool for any Medical personal or someone desiring to increase their medical knowledge. My only dislike was the use of a lot of medical terminology when it comes to the description of medical aliments. If you did not have a pathology course before this class you might need an additional book to understand the medical conditions you are reading about.

I bought the Bates' Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking for medical school and it is an excellent product. It is a comprehensive review of not only the methods of a physical, but also the anatomical and physiologial signifiance of every aspect of the exam. I highly recommend this product for medical students; it is something that will be valuable throughout your medical career.

The book has great pictures and descriptions. I wish it was organized where all the information was in one area. For example, it tells about the eye then about the ear, etc, then it tells about the tests of the eye.

Bought this book for class. I love it! It's detailed, yet easy to read and understand, and has lots of pictures.
