Basic Instinct (DVD, 2001, Special Limited Edition - Unrated)

This crime drama plays out like a twisted rollarcoaster playing on everyone's fantasy! It has become a true classic and now with the debut of blu-ray, it is sure to continue in popularity. This film coined the phrase...What are you going to do? Charge me with Smoking as the Stealty Sharon Stone moves her legs from side to side with that almost perfect view. I'm Sold!!

I would describe this as a very sexually graphic erotic thriller in which a police detective (Douglas) falls for the suspect (Stone) in the murder of her lover. I believe it came out in the 80s and I see why it would be so controversial back then. I rated it as good because they did a decent job of keeping you guessing who the murderer really is. The plot though was kind of predictable and corny and the ever increasing pile of dead bodies seemed more like breaks between the sex scenes than a cleverly woven suspense movie. Overall most of the actors did a great job (except the professor who was called in to consult with the police before they called in Stone's character for questioning- he so overacted his small part). I'm glad to have finally seen this movie but i'm not sure what all the hype was about.
P.S. Parents definitely not for the kids to see!

this movie is a classic. Thrilling, action scenes, and two great actors what more can you ask for? This one will keep you guessing til the end!
