Basic Instinct 2 (DVD, 2006, Unrated)

Despite its inevitable fate as a critically reviled box-office flop, Basic Instinct 2 sure has a funny way of holding your attention. It's not just Sharon Stone's trash-talk and occasional nudity that keeps you watching, but also the way she gamely earns every cent of her $14 million paycheck, vamping like a real pro in her second outing as mystery novelist and alleged serial killer Catherine Tramell. Now living in London, Catherine sets her lethal sights on Michael Glass (David Morrissey), the control-freak psychiatrist assigned to evaluate her as a risk-addicted suspect in the "accidental" killing of a star soccer player. Turns out Catherine's just getting started (or is she?), and that's bad news for Glass's ex-wife, a tabloid journalist, and the Scotland Yard detective (David Thewlis) who's desperate to put Catherine in jail. With plenty of sex, murder and salacious dialogue, BI2 is certainly never boring, especially with the morbid fascination of seeing the once formidable Stone torpedo her career in a sequel that took 14 years (and countless drafts of screenplays and at least one high-profile lawsuit) to bring to the screen. She's still impressively hot at age 47, prompting critic Roger Ebert to observe, "the Catherine Tramell role cannot be played well, but Sharon Stone can play it badly better than any other actress alive." So, while this ill-fated sequel falls just short of being a guilty pleasure (if only because Morrissey is no match for Michael Douglas in the 1992 original), it's enjoyably absurd and slickly produced, and the hot-tub scene is guaranteed to wear out the freeze-frame function on a lot of DVD players. For some viewers, that's reason enough for multiple viewings.

The movie didn't come close to the first one. The male star was poor and not a real leading man. I hoped it would come close to the first one, it didn't. I waste of money.

If you rented or bought this DVD just because of Sharon Stone, go for it!
Otherwise this dvd doesn't worth watching it! You are basically waisting your time and money.

The movie, though not like the original, stands on its own as a really good crime drama. The twists of the plot are gripping and the main character is terrific like the first movie. The new detective role was a little week as compared to Michael Douglas' character, but all in all it stands by itself as a good movie and even if you have not seen the first one, you will enjoy it and understand it fully. I recommend it, pure move enjoyment!!!

Excellent movie but a bit far fetched for "coincidental murders! Fine acting.
Sharn Stone is attractive and provocative as always. Taking place in England makes the Movie more believable also.

this is an older version . actually the first of a follow up movie. both of which you will enjoy but, perhaps it should be reviewed by parents before automatically setting it up for family night.a little seductive with intriguing plot.

good thriller with a good story line follows first movie well, but the best thing in the movie is still Sharon Stone still sexy as ever wroth it just for her

i bought it because i have basic instinct and enjoyed it very much. i wanted to see if it was as good as number 1 and it was. i wish that the extras would included what the stars had to say about the movie.

Having enjoyed the original Basic Instinct I couldn't help but want to give the sequel a look. I am happy I did. This movie was well done and as usual, Sharon Stone is, well, Sharon Stone. The story line is quite fascinating and well presented. Great car scenes too.

Loved it. I like Sharon Stone and had wished I owned the first so I bought both. I love the mystery and just not sure of where it was going.

There was nothing I really didn't like about it !

It was full of subspence, you could hardly figure out who was doing the killing til the end . Then you still didn't really know who did it any way !!!

I really liked it , it was a very different kind of movie then you would have expected from the first one !

It's a great film with good actors. Sharon Stone at age 50 still has the body. That week all have known great plot lines good acting good directing good thriller right to the very and. Enjoy it

i was a big fan of the first part, she was hot well she still is but they made it more contreversy on the first one. but the second part was just nudity after orgy after nudity. not that i dont mind but id rather just buy a porno and enjoy it. there was no plot no story to this movie. other than having sharon stone again in the movie the whole movie sucked. so if you want to see sharon stone naked buy it but just fast forward to the nude scenes cause the movie sucked

If you like suspense thrillers, this does have some twists and turns. However, it did not even come close to living up to the standard set by the first one. To be honest, I was expecting a few more hot and steamy scenes in the movie, which really never came...literally.

The movie arrived in about two weeks, and it was as described. Good condition. I would buy from this seller again.

Basic Instinct 2 is okay, I thought the first one was great but this movie just seemed to strange. Not very many sequels are better than the original but it was not as good as I thought it was going to be. If you like the first, then you will like this movie.
