Barron's How to Prepare for the Praxis by Robert Postman (2001, Illustrated, Package)

if you get nothing else from buying this book, just having the book to get the feel for these types of exams. It will give extra confidence if you use this to study for any of the the praxis exams. Every year it seems like the exams keep getting tougher, so if you use a book that is a few years old.... you may feel behind. Definitely worth the money, if you are seriously going to use it and take time to fully devote some serious time and effort. This is not the SAT's, or the postal exam, you have to write quick, and be clear and concise, you ahvve to pop out top quality small writing samples that really can pull you off track easily. the time constraints really hamper the regular writing process most of us use. ( i am not an english teacher, I usually do rough drafts on important writing ) but there is no time for any thought of grammar or word choice, you have to write and move on, or you will fall behind enought to not even get to the last questions, which if you leave blank, are going to pull your score way down, i am not a fan of the praxis exam to begin with, how can one 3 hour exam consisting of 200-300 questions really tell if you can teach a subject? but if you are going to take this route, these books are helpful.

I received the book in excellent condition as advertised. I've been reading and studying from it and it is full in useful information. It give you a practice session in the beginning of each chapter that way you know if you need to study that portion of the book. It has 2 full length Praxis tests so you can time yourself and take the test to see how you do. After the test, it has complete descriptions of how to answer the questions so if you get some questions wrong, it will show you and help you understand why and how to study for it. I have not taken the Praxis yet but this book is a wonderful guide to study for it.
