Clear photographs enable the collector and proprietor to easily identify and label each fashion- as well as those elusive accessories. The fashion name and number series as well as cleaning tips and historical anecdotes are also covered.
Typically, the price guide reflects values geared toward the mint collector and dealer. Unfortunately, these guides are often unrealistic for a large portion of the collector market.
Overall, Barbie Fashion, by Sarah Sink Eames is a tirelessly and excellently researched identification guide for the vintage wardrobe collector of Barbie and friends.

I bought the book because I restore vintage barbie dolls and their clothes and I wanted big, clear, color photos of each vintage outfit with all the accessories plus the years the outfits where produced. I loved the book because it has all the information I need on vintage barbie fashion in one beautiful book. Anyone who dresses vintage barbies needs this book.

This is an outstanding reference book for Barbie doll enthusiasts. It is such a tremendous help with identifying Barbie's outfits and accessories. The photos in the book are fantastic, and the detailed information is really helpful too. Anyone who buys or sells fashion dolls would benefit from owning this book. I highly recommend it!

This book is excellent. I have not seen such large clear pictures of most of these outfits anywhere else. Each outfit has a color picture along with a nice description which includes what accessories came with it.

The prices don't hold true on ebay. But this seems to be the case with most guide books. And it will enable you to identify your item. I found several pieces of vintage clothing in my pile of clothes that I was not aware of. This more than pays for the purchase of the book.

If you collect vintage Barbie (1959-1967), this book is a must. Each and every outfit is pictured, along with all those hard-to-find accessories, so that you know exactly what you need to complete your wardrobe collection. If I had any criticism at all to make of this book, it would be that the index in the back makes it difficult to quickly locate individual outfits, as it is done by page rather than alphabetically or by year of release. But this is a minor thing in the big picture, and this book is still the bible for vintage collecting. Happy hunting!!

Sarah Eames has provided an invaluable resource to the Barbie collector. Book features Barbie Fashions for the years 59-67. Included are details such as where shoes were being made, what clothes were repeats of previous years, and the accessories that came with the outfits. Each outfit is pictured in color. This plus her other 2 books provides a great resource for collecting Barbie clothes.

Recently I have been collecting vintage (1959-1965) Barbies and their outfits. I wanted a resource that I could refer to in order to familiarize myself with complete outfits. And, I wanted this resource to be on my coffee-table. This book is all that; an exceptional reference, with excellent photographs, descriptions, and more. I would recommend it not only for collectors, but anyone who is a Barbie fan. You will not be disappointed.

It shows, in detail, all of the clothes and their accessories that went with the outfit and during which time this item was sold. Great reference book! Wish I could get Volume 2 for the price I paid for Volume 1.

In my own opinion, and probably most Barbie & Barbie "family & friends" Collectors, Mrs. Eames has certainly written one of the best sources of information on their Vintage clothing & accessories ever found. Beautiful color photographs are found on every page, of complete fashions of all things Barbie, Ken, Skipper and their family & friends for the 1959-1967 "era". Along with the stunning photos are detailed descriptions, including item number and year of issue.
The collector finally has a reference book with all they need to know, nothing is omitted from this wonderful book. If you are looking for THE book, the one that has all the information you ever needed to know...THIS is THE book for you! In the index section, along with the item name and what page the item is located in the book, is a "current" value as well.
I do not have Volume II yet, but lucky to also own Volume III, and if I could find any improvement in her Volume III compared to the format of Volume I it would have to be the way the INDEX is arranged. It is listed by year and item number under categories and doll names, with the prices omitted in this section but included with the actual pictures & descriptions of the items. I find it is easier to locate the clothing compared to this first volume. I highly recommend Volume I for any and all collectors, no disappointment will be had. Include Volumes II & III to your Barbie reference library and you will be very informed on these wonderful dolls!

Great book: clear, large pictures make this both delicious and useful for a collector and restorer.

This book offers an invaluable resource for Barbie collectors. It has beautiful pictures and descriptions, as well as some historical information about early Barbie dolls and outfits and their accessories offered from 1959 through 1961. A must have!!
