Band of Brothers (2002, DVD)

Hands down, this is one of the greatest disk collections ever created. The Band of Brothers is the story of Easy Company, a tight-knit crew of World War II soldiers and their journey from the beginning to the end of the war. I have watched this collection through at least 5 times from beginning to end.

In addition to the backdrop of the war, this series is about the stories behind the bonds that these soldiers forged during the war. A lot of my friends were under the impression that this film was a typical war movie involving testosterone and gunpowder, but the truth is that this movie has very little to do with other Lee Marvin films - this movie is about the people.

The craziest part of this series is when you sit back and realize that The Band of Brothers was a real group of people. It actually makes you drift in and out of the Hollywood experience. As deep as you get into the drama, you are snapped back to the reality that the Band of Brothers were REAL PEOPLE.

If you have read any of the Stephen Ambrose books, enjoyed Saving Private Ryan, or have a pulse...you will really enjoy this film.

I first watched the Band Of Brother about five years ago. It is the most informative, accurate, and dramatic re-enactment today. If you don't have a deeper respect for our military and our history after watching this film you may be numb hearted. It is the best film made and is produced by several of the industries best producer; such as, Tom Hanks and Stephen Speilberg.

I have always wanted the series but did'nt want to pay the price for new,so i got a used set on e-bay, all most like new & saved money;and did it all without leaving home.

ive known gerald for 15 yrs , he never talcked much about his time in korea ,vietnam, . i guess bieng on hospis, with three tubes in you and a cancer traced back to agent orange, softend him up we talked and shared old stories and i parraled death,and pain , and the inner fight of one in dire curcomstances and him, in his utmost stuborn ableity too just keep pushing on ,regadless of what they they told him ,he has never gave up hope.though fighting for his life, always pushed ahead ,a soilder once and always !

I found this series to be extremely good. It is based on actual events and follows Easy Company from boot camp through to the end of WWII. The acting and special effects are excellent and reminiscant of Saving Private Ryan. If you are a fan of WWII movies then this series will not disappoint.

I thought it was a good series, it did not quite stay with what really happened
but was close enough. Some of the story lines are really realistic as to how
things go during war. they don't always go well for either side. Overall very good.

Great Story line ! Its a must see for anyone who enjoys war films or history. There are so many well known actors in this film as well who got their start from this Show! It helps you realize the situations that the soliders were put in during the war.

This is a great tv show/ documentary on WWII. This DVD package comes with all of the episodes from pre war and storming of normandy to the end of the war and the beginning of Japan. Also, it comes with real interviews of the veterans that were actually portrayed in the series. This is a must have for anyone who is interested in WWII or any one who just likes action type tv shows!!

On a military deployment to Alaska, some friends had this set. We would watch an episode a night. This is a very good movie. It gives you the inside experience of the war. I enjoyed listening to the actual people tell their version of what happened,then they would act it out in the movie. I enjoyed this collection so much, when I got home I had to find and purchase it.

Amazing production. If you liked Saving Private Ryan, you will love this. Same Spielberg magic, but way more in depth. Simply wonderful.

I got what was promised to me in a quick an orderly fashion. I won the auction on a Thursday and the package was waiting for me when I got back after a weekend away. It was well packaged and in great shape.

I wanted this since the series first came out. I just didn't want to pay the full retail price. I'm a history buff so this purchase really meant alot to me.I was very happy with the purchase and have since invited friends over to watch it.

I am a WWII buff and this is one of the best DVD sets produced. I have looked for this set for a long time and all the ones I have found were out of my price range. Thanks to E-Bay this is now a part of my extensive WWII DVD collection.

A friend of mine at work let me borrow this box set after we got into talking World War II. i had known of it since it its first airing in 2001, but didn't give it a second thought. Unfortunately for me, i missed out for 7 years. This series is without a doubt the BEST war film/mini-series of all time. Its length allows real story and character development. something a 2-3 hour film cannot do.

The box set comes in a metal collector tin with a 6 disc foldout. each of the first 5 discs have 2 episodes, and the 6th disc holds a 80 min documentary called "the men of easy company", and special features. The story follows the men of the 101st airborne, 506th PIR, Company E, from their training at Camp Toccoa, D-Day, Carentan, Operation Market Garden, Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge), and Berchtesgaden at the end of the war.

not half way through watching my friends box set, i bought my own. I'm a big fan of World War II, and anyone who also even remotely enjoys history would be foolish not to watch this. time well spent. I'm in the middle of watching the 10 hour series for a 3rd time in the last month. i would recommend this strongly to everyone. this is one of those rare film experiences that i think needs to be seen by everyone to give them an idea of what people have done for their freedom.

The most complete, realistic portrayal of the second World War in cinematic history. great acting, great special effects, and the constant change of directors from episode to episode gives different styles through the series, preventing it from becoming a stale 10 hour movie. A+

Because this movie is a part of history that many have forgotten, or chose to ignore. The actors portay their character extremely well, the directing, is great. If one wishes to update their historical memories, and get their adrenalin moving, this is the series.

Well done HBO, and all those that provide this great entertainment.

Discs are in great shape. I dislike the fact that they came in separate cases (not the original metal case). But that's a small price to pay for an awesome mini series. I decided to buy it because I really like WWII movies/documentaries.

Gave as a gift. The outside cover seemed fine. My daughter had watched it with her boyfriend who needed to watch it for a college course.She asked for it for her birthday.She hasn't watched this copy yet.

This miniseries and JOHN ADAMS are the only two series that ever tempted me to subscribe to HBO. When I first got the chance to watch in on The History Channel, I was hooked. Based on a true story, the cast does a wonderful job bringing real life people to life. The story is engaging and I found myself caring for everyone, including the less than likable Sobel (brilliantly portrayed by David Schwimmer). The action is superbly directed (and also acted), there is no point that the "action" of the war overwhelms the story of Easy Company. It's a great miniseries and have watched several times since my purchase. Keep up the great work HBO and I may become a subscriber.

A remarkable series about remarkable men. Highly recommend to anyone interested in WWII.

Hanks and Spielberg did an excellent job. Attention to detail shows. Making of a "Band of Brothers" is a fascinating bonus.
