Banacek - The Complete Series (DVD, 2008, 5-Disc Set)

I watched all the shows as a kid and still remember how the thiefs pulled of the crimes. Banacek was so cool with the ladies and for a detective show, there was very little violance. The criminals were also smart people and the shows came down to who was smart; Banacek or them. Of course Banacek always was and he always got the woman.

Looking back at George Peppard I remember him in the World War II drama "The Blue Max" of 1965. Not to be forgotten ,his very gorgeous co-star Ursala Andress. Well back to Peppard,he also brings fond memories of John "Hannibal" Smith in the cult favorite "The A Team" of the 1980's. Banacek of the 1970's, shows an in between this time period. A Peppard in his prime. These mysteries dealt with an impossible theft in the begining,although Banacek as an insurance investigator puts the clues together. From a missing rocket engine to a disappearing 747 airplane, a magician lost on stage to a race horse gone on the track. There were only two seasons of this rare type of mystery. This is the best on crystal clear DVD. Well worth the purchase. Great for family viewing. I give this program a 5 out of 5. Thanks,Nick.

I purchased the DVD set a week and a half ago. It was all I expected it to be and more. I was a huge fan of the Banacek series as it was based in Boston my hometown. I have been looking for the seies for quite a while. It is not in the usual stores you would expect as a set. i was so pleased to find it on Ebay that I purchased it immediately.
