The Bad News Bears (DVD, 2002)

An ageing former minor-league ballplayer, now a beer-drinking pool cleaner, has to manage an apparently hopeless little league baseball team of misfits and wierdos. Through spunk, creativity, and a bit of luck, they figure out a way to work together and win enough games to get to the championship. As a mid-70's sports film, winning is not as important as working together, doing your best, and playing fair.

This is 70's comedy at it's finest.

This is a classic~! For all of us 40 somethings, this should be a must show for our teenage kids. Life in "our" day. Good times!

I purchased this for my daughter who is a softball coach. She likes this type of movie to inspire her girls, and was delighted when I gave it to her.

The first time that I seen the movie, I was pretty interested the way the story of movie went. This movie is truly original and a gem for many on any given laid back Sunday. The whole cast in the movie did a superb job at making the movie great. Truly a first class movie for doubters/optimists alike. Worth buying for your kid who loves to dream big.

A must have movie if you have never seen it, I'm sorry! Has to be one of the most under rated sports movies ever. growing up in the 70's and 80's I always had a crush on Tatum O'neil she's pitcher with all the pitches. Chris Barnes play's Tanner Boyle a little kid with a foul mouth and will fight anyone. Jackie Haley is an all star player that no one likes and doesn't start to play until another manager kicks him off the field. I love this movie and I think you will to. Also the music that is orchestrated throughout the whole movie will keep you alive while watching!

Filmed on the very same softball and baseball fields where my brother and I played as kids, I can't help but love this movie. My friends and I were the same age as the kids in the movie and one of the walk-on parts (girl sitting in the bleachers saying Jackie Haley was sooo cute) was a friend of ours, Leigh Manley. I'm 46 years-old now and enjoy watching this movie with my 11 year-old daughter as much as I enjoyed watching it as a kid. Brings back some great memories and illustrates some important lessons for kids that they don't see in the movies being made today.

One of director Michael Ritchie's most universally recognized comedies, THE BAD NEWS BEARS is a film that continues to entertain audiences of all ages. The story concerns a hopeless Little League team that eventually scores big when it acquires a new coach, Morris Buttermaker (Walter Matthau), a grouchy, beer-guzzling pool cleaner who takes the position for some extra cash. When he realizes that his players are a bunch of talentless misfits, he signs up two secret weapons: Amanda Whurlitzer (Tatum O’Neal), the daughter of an ex-girlfriend who also happens to be an awesome pitcher, and Kelly Leak (Jackie Earle Haley), a motorcycle-riding punk who is inarguably the best player in the area. With their new lineup in place, the Bears breeze their way into the championship game, in which they must battle their rivals, the Yankees, in order to exact revenge and win the title. Matthau's Buttermaker is a gem of a character, tossing off cynical one-liners with a vehemence that is truly hysterical. Great movie. Had it before and it got lost. It's a funny movie especially the kids in it. Walter Matheau played a great part. It reminded my of my childhood. Tatum O'Neil was also very good. My favorite character is Tanner. He's cocky and trys to act tough because he is so short. Funny little guy.

the original bad news bears movie is indeed a classic the remake of this classic movie is just not up to the standards of the original and the actors and actresses were good but not as good as the 1974 classic actors and actresses were like all movies that are made over and remakes being done "none " compare to the original movie, as i watch this movie it reminds me of the nice hot summer days spent on the ball field in my home town as a young boy ...
