Album Notes
AC/DC: Malcolm Young, Angus Young, Cliff Williams, Phil Rudd, Brian Johnson.
After the untimely death of former enigmatic vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC finally chanced upon a worthy replacement in the shape of former Geordie frontman, Brian Johnson. The result was more than the formal pastiche some expected, with Johnson stamping his own personality, not to mention distinctive rasp, on the record. The band's staple lyrical diet of sex and the general pursuit of happiness, however, remained very much intact. Highlights include the stomping 'Hell's Bells', the quiet build of the title track, and the chuckling insolence of, 'Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution'. A winning return.

Editorial Reviews
Included in Q's Best Metal Albums Of All Time
Q (08/01/2000)

4 Stars - Excellent - ...The apotheosis of evil, sidewinding boogie and pig-ignorant sexism...BACK IN BLACK's irresistible first half gives it the edge over absolutely every other heavy rock album from the early 1980s...
Q (12/01/1994)

...A tribute to Bon Scott, sung by a man he himself had once recommended....Highlights from the 10-million seller: 'You Shook Me All Night Long', 'Rock & Roll Ain't Noise Pollution' and doomy opener 'Hell's Bells'.
Mojo (12/01/2000)

5 stars out of 5 - ...AC/DC's precision, granite-cracking boogie, sky-bothering choruses and artless lust never sounded better than here...
Uncut (09/01/2003)

4 stars out of 5 - ...The essence of unrepetantly simple but savagely crafted hard rock...

AC/DC rock!!!! No self worthy rock CD collection is complete without this masterpiece!!!
As I write this review, the tracks are blaring out...one hit after another!! You cannot help but rocking along with this album! No matter that AC/DC were without their original Front Man - Bon Scott!! Brit vocalist Brian Johnson fills the void left by Scotts untimely death on this album and another mega hit was produced!! His powerful, gritty vocals merging with thrashing percussion and blaring guitars on track after track on this 10 song album!
This album has two main areas of focus....sex and drinking!! The critics may have blasted the album for its limited and low train of thought...but excuse me, is this not rock and roll???? And what is rock and roll without its excess of deviance??
The album opens with the bells - followed by powerful guitar rifts and the pleasure that is Hells Bells!! Dark, rocking and a masterpiece!! Highlighting the unique vocals that Johnson brings to the plate!! Shoot to Thrill is rock and roll at its finest, sexist..yes!! Loud...yes!!!! A hit..absolutely!! Back in Black - who cna ignore an opening rift like that!!!! AND cliched maybe but for me the standout among this album of amazing rock tracks is 'You shook me all night long' - who does not recognize this song when it cranks up the airwaves!!!! THIS is what rock and roll is about!
Only on this album we do not stop there....Have a Drink on me....Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution!!! There are a lot of tremendous rock albums out there...but how many can rival this????? Not many!!
Rock and Roll at its finest!!!
