Publisher's Note The Bachelors Cat has all the earmarks of a classic love story -- a holiday gift that will rival The Christmas Box and The Notebook. When a somewhat introverted and self-serving bachelor artist finds a stray kitten at his doorstep, he decides to take her in to see if he can, indeed, sustain a lasting and loving relationship with another living creature. His on-again, off-again romance with a sexy but shallow girlfriend has left him emotionally cynical, and in no time the cat becomes the central focus of his life. Through her, the man rediscovers the meaning of loyalty and affection. Out one evening at his neighborhood bar, the man strikes up conversation with a woman. Shes not his usual type -- a little older (closer to his age, in fact) and on the heavy side -- but after several minutes they are caught up in a kind of exciting conversation he never experienced with his old girlfriend. As their relationship unfolds and blossoms in new and rewarding ways, the man wavers between the sincerity and depth of the woman versus the frivolous and surface sexuality of his girlfriend, and it is his trusty cat who illuminates the right path. The Bachelors Cat is charming, emotional and rife with life's important lessons.
The bachelor was an honest man, caught between the demands of a personal life and a career, the pursuit of happiness and the pursuit of meaning. His relationship with a sexy and manipulative girlfriend was halfhearted, his career as an artist led him to create art nobody wanted to buy, and he began to grow cynical. The kitten that entered his life appeared on his doorstep one cold morning. Not an overly sentimental type, the bachelor decided to take in the kitten until her rightful owner could be found. Even a stray, after all, deserved a chance to come in from the cold. Then the bachelor met a woman. She was not his usual type - not half as pretty or a tenth as mean - but she made him laugh. His time with the girlfriend had been hotter, but time spent with this woman was sweeter. As the kitten grew and the bachelor brightened, he found himself increasingly torn between the appeal of these two very different women. Struggling to make a choice between them, he discovered that his cat knew a lot more about love than he did.
Industry Reviews "No tears, only mild uplift, and just the right size for 'Bridges of Madison County' folks." Tuttle
