Just when I'd almost given up hope that my baby would sleep any other way but at my breast, in our bed, I picked up this book. Within the first few minutes, I almost started to cry. It was as if Dr. Sears had written this book for me, and my situation.

There's other books available about sleeping, but I urge you to try this one first. He gives sincere medical and parenting advice about what's worked for his practice (over 30 years) and what's worked with his parenting (they have 9 children!).

You'll finally put to rest the all important question: "Do I let my baby cry it out?" The answer is NO!

I'll share 2 facts I learned from this book:

    1. The only babies know how to communicate is by crying. The parents of children who sleep through the night by crying it out? Those babies have simply stopped communicating their needs to their parents! There is no training possible!

    2. Having your baby sleep next to you actually helps them regulate their breathing! Most babies have irregular breathing for awhile, and it's the babies who stop breathing who die from SIDS. Having baby inhale your carbon dioxide will HELP stimulate her breathing!!! That was it for me - she's been comfortably in our bed since the night I read that sentence. He goes into a lot more detail about it than I have in the review.

I was SO happy to get sincere advice about what to do with my precious baby girl. Of course our arms are the most secure place in the world for our babies! This book will explain so much - and is worth it beyond words.
