It is important to get young children excited about reading, and one of the best wasy you can do this, besides demonstrate your own enjoyment of a good book; is to read frequently too them and make reading accessible!
A great idea is to fill your surroundings with books - do not confine them to babys room, but the car, the living room and yes - the bath!
Baby Einstein is one company that makes this possible with a range of soft waterproof books that can be read in the bath! It cna even float! Mimi's Toes is the best of these; featuring a little monkey called Mimi and the end of the day as she takes a bath and goes to bed!
The text and illustrations are simple, designed to delight the very youngest child. The words rhyme and are repetitive which is a concept that a young child will both appreciate and learn from. Each verse end with " See mama wash Mimi from her feet to her nose, then abck to tickle Mimi's toes"....my toddler got so used to this she was able to recite it at a young age and now knows this book almost word for word! It also helps children identify body parts and parents can act out the words with a toddler!
It helps to aks your child to pick out pictures in the book and identify them. the illustrations are bright, bold and eye catching. It is also great how this ends on a bedtime note..perfect excuse to end your child's bathtime and follow suit by tucking them in to sleep!
A cute simple book that takes reading to another setting and gives your child another opportunity to learn! Highly recommend!

I loved the title of the book. My grand daughter refers to me as Mimi. Even though the baby's name is Mimi. We think it is funny. Of course at this point since she is only 10 months old. She mostly chews on the book which is perfect because of the construction of the book. The pages are very easy for her to turn as she enjoys the pictures. We are able to read occasionaly because of her love of the book. Thanks!
