  Another Baby Einstein Classic!
Review created: 04/09/07
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

My daughter is nearly 8 months old and loves Baby's First Moves, another classic from Baby Einstein. It follows the same format at the other BE DVD's, full of new words, classical music, and my baby's favorite puppet shows. My daughter also loves looking at and watching other babies, which are throughout this DVD. The babies are at different ages and stages, showcasing skills such as scooting, crawling, pulling up, walking and dancing. And my favorite is that it encourages parents to work with their child while watching the show, not simply plopping them in front of the tv.

  Keeps baby's attention

Not an educational video, really...just a highly entertaining one. My 12 month old loves watching the babies and older children on it. Nice when I have to get something done, but I do my best not to rely on these videos as a rule or watch them with her when I can find the time. This particular video shows children playing, dancing, clapping, running, etc. to music. There are little puppet shows and clips featuring colorful toys throughout. I've seen it about a million and one times and it's cute.

My son is 20 months old and loves the Baby Einstein movies. He has ALL of them. He is a little old for this one, but he screams with laughter when I play it. I definately recommond this movie for any babies who are learning to sit up, stand or walk.

  Excellent new Baby Einstein DVD!

This DVD is recommended for ages 6 months and up, but my 4 and a half month old is already enjoying it. It's a bit long for short attention spans, but in typical Baby Einstein style, it helps build relationships in the minds of little viewers, and is accompanied by excellent classical music. Another great movie from Baby Einstein....

More GREAT education from Baby Einstein

These movies are so great that even my 6 year old likes some of them. This on focuses on making baby get up and GO. Great for my infant but it did make my 3 year old run around like crazy. Clips and puppet shows focusing on sports and playground and crawling and walking and running etc... Very cute and highly recomemmeded.

  Excellent DVD for little ones

I had heard great things about this DVD so I decided to buy it for my son. He was 11 months old when I bought it and he LOVES it. He could sit there and watch almost the whole video without moving. For little ones that is not an easy thing to do. I think babies and kids just like seeing other babies and kids and watching them do things like dance and play. He also loved the puppets in the video. He is now almost 14 months old and is still as excited to see it now as he was when we first got it. I would say this was an excellent buy and I am looking into buying some more Baby Einstein DVDs. I highly recommend this product to all moms and dads.

My grandson is five months old. He already loves certain videos. He is only moderately taken with this one. Mind you, it is subjective because all babies are different.

  New Way to Learn
Review created: 12/09/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Learning methods are a little different then when my children were born. However, the basic premise remains the same. I have read many of the reviews and comments about watching TV. It is my opinion that combing video's (such as "Baby Einstein")
with a great amount of interaction with your child can only be beneficial. The "Baby's First Moves" DVD is a great addition to the DVD collection we have for our 9 month old granddaughter. No child should be left in front of a TV for hours just watching. These DVD's give parents, care givers and grandparents a perfect opportunity to INTERACT with their young. To teach through sight, sound and repetition. I believe it actually helps your child focus their attention and learn to absorb many different areas of learning. I believe this combination gives our children the advantage of having practiced these skills they will need when entering school, especially for the first time.

So have fun! "Baby Einstein" DVD's are simple, easy, musical and educational.

  Like the repetition of movement!

I really like how they go over all the first moves and use a lot of repetition. I like how they actually show the babies doing the movement. My 6-month old won't watch it continuously but will watch some then look away and play. I think her favorite Baby Einstein is Baby Mozart.

My baby is so facinated with this DVD. I love how it captures the child's attention. I only wish that it were longer. I bought this DVD not only in hopes that it would buy me some time to clean my house, but to help my little one learn and develop. I didnt just want to put him in front of the t.v watching some random cartoon that didnt have any learning value. This DVD is great for young babies and Toddlers.

Wonderful movie, but too many breaks in the action
Review created: 07/19/08

It is a very cute movie! My daughter is only 12 weeks old and it captured her attention immediately the first time we watched it. She really likes the monkey and the giraffe. However, between segments, there are a few seconds of time where there is just a black screen. My child is hyper-alert and bores easily, and these pauses are just enough for her to start "complaining." But other than that she smiles and squeals and waves her arms around the whole time. Overall we both really love it.

My baby is 8 months old and really loves this video. It keeps him entertained for about half an hour so that I can get chores done. He has many Baby Einstein videos and this is one of his favorites! As with most BE videos, the music, and colorful puppets and illustrations are just what it takes to grab his attention.

Television and videos not good for children under 2
Review created: 02/20/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The name "Baby Einstein" can trick parents into believing it's okay or even good for their babies to watch it, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television AT ALL to children under 2 because so many studies have proven its harmful effects on children. Studies have shown that:

- for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%.
- among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age."
- brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping.

"Signing Time" (Two Little Hands Productions) DVDs is an excellent option for OCCASIONAL video viewing because communicating in sign language with your child is proven to:

- reduce frustration and tantrums
- accelerate language development
- promote parent-child bonding

Last thing for new moms - carrying newborn babies (in arms or next to body) an extra 3 hours a day resulted in 40% less crying. So carrying baby in a carrier or sling can help calm fussy babies!

I started a daycare and I wanted a good DVD for them to watch. I also have a 1 year old sister who had one as a baby and wanted to get one for older kids. THey all love. My sister watches it in aw in the car when they go somewhere. I would recommend this to anyone with small kids.
