A Good Resource for New Parents

I bought this book because, being a first-time mother, my midwife strongly recommended I have it. It contains information on nearly everything about your baby from birth to toddler years, including feeding, health, behavior, growth, sleep and child-rearing. I love the perspective of the authors: they are from the medical world itself (being a doctor and nurse), but are also wary of its dangers. You know you're getting a balanced view of medications, interventions, etc. Beware, though, of their parenting philosophy: they are strong attachment parenting (AP) proponents. They encourage unrestricted feeding, slingwearing, co-sleeping and not letting the baby cry. I'm not making a judgment call on that style of parenting, but simply stating that this parenting philosophy slants ALL of the advice they give. Be aware of that and filter information accordingly.
