Baa Baa Black Sheep: Volume 1 - The First Adventures Of The Black Sheep Squadron (DVD, 2005)

I loved the TV series back when it was on. I always loved Airplanes and I really like seeing a guy with the right values beating the paper pusher system and Winning.

Visiting the set in my early teens....seeing the aircraft (Corsairs, T6, etc.)...I wasn't long before I was hooked on the show. Robert Conrad, cast and crew were warm, receptive, fun and outgoing. Having the abililty to buy this brought many memories that I can relive at home. A must have....period!

This was bought as a gift for my husband. He has wanted this to be available for years so it was a nice surprise when I found it.

I watched every episode of the series back in the 70's when it was on TV. This is better, NO COMMERCIALS! Just finished the real "Pappy" Boyingington's book by the same title. They couldn't have cast a better actor to portray Boyington than 'cousin' Bob Conrad. I highly recommend both the series and the book. I hope they put the rest of the series on DVD soon. Gene Conrad

I have been a big fan of this series since I saw my first episode years ago. I recently purchased a few models of the F$-U Corsair, and hd no real refrence for them...then I remembered the Black Sheep series.

I now have 3 built Corsairs, don'e just like in the series hanging from the celing. The aircraft are well represented in this series, and the storylines are just fantastic! I would HIGHLY RECOMEND this series to anyone! A must have for the airplane guys!!

This is a good dvd and a good series, it beats all the stupid reality shows that are on TV now. Robert Conrad is an excellent actor portraying Pappy Boeington.

I bought it for a gift. It seems in perfect working condition but we'll know after it has been viewed.

The TV program was really GREAT. Now I can enjoy it when I want to. Fantastic... GREAT Family viewing.

I puchased this DVD for a close friend of mine who just recently celebrated his 46th Birthday. I remember him telling me how much he enjoyed Black Sheep Squadron as a teenager and he hoped someone would rerun the show on cable. He was shocked to receive this, I guess he forgot he ever mentioned it to me, but he's watched it several times and has enjoyed every episode. Great quality picture and great memories from a great show. If you loked the program in the late seventees, you'll LOVE the DVD version now.

A likable mix of WWII action and light comedy, the first 10 episodes of the NBC series Baa Baa Black Sheep (1976-78) wing their way onto DVD in this double-sided two-disc set. Based on the adventures of Marine Corps pilot Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington (played in the series by the always dependable Robert Conrad) and his squadron of roguish ace fliers in the South Pacific Theater, Baa Baa Black Sheep benefited from an excellent cast (which included such TV and film vets as Simon Oakland and Dana Elcar, as well as up-and-comers like John Larroquette and Larry Manetti of Magnum, P.I.) and scripts from series creator Stephen J. Cannell (as well as long-time TV scribes like Philip De Guere and Milt Rosen) that offered a enjoyable balance of humor and combat. The blend gets an excellent showcase in the 1976 two-hour pilot, Flying Misfits, which kicks off volume 1; the remaining 10 adventures pit Pappy and the Black Sheep boys against the Axis Japanese in a secret squadron of captured planes ("The Meatball Circus," episode 8), a brainwashed American captain ("Presumed Dead," episode 7), and a tough major (Charles Napier) with designs on commanding the squadron ("Best Three out of Five," episode 3). Fans of the series may question the decision to include only half of the first season's episodes in this set (the 1976-77 season ran for an additional 12 episodes before being dropped by NBC; the series was revived in late 1977, rechristened Black Sheep Squadron, and ran for an additional 13 episodes before being canceled in 1978), but the inclusion of the two-part pilot and interviews with the real Pappy Boyington (who served as the show's consultant and even cameos in the pilot) should appease any concerns. --Paul Gaita

I Really like stories about the Black Sheep,and Col.Greg "Pappy" Boyington!I Love the Corsair Fighter! Col. Boyington made the Planes Famous during World War two! He had 28 kills! He was One of the Greatest Aces in the Pacific!! I think Everyone should watch this show! And learn about what these Pilots went through!And What They Did for all of Us!
