B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th (PC Games, 2000)

Love the game, played it in the 90's when it cane out on floppy disc. Great way to speand 4 or 5 hours. Great challenge learning to take off, navagate,do the bombing run,keep the bogies off of you for the run home, then land. The only trouble was the game I ordered form e-bay never worked. I tried it on two computers and both locked up. Great game, just got a bad disc. My lose.

As an enthusiast of Warbirds, and their fight to ensure our country's freedoms, being able to place myself into history, aboard our magnificent Flying Fortress, cemented my honoring of the deeds those men did for our benefit. This "game" is as real as it gets!
Although one does not endure the hardships of those, on these missions, you definately understand the endurance needed. Grueling long-distance runs, uneventful time spans and exilarating action sequences all put the reality of our airmen into your grasp.
This is not for the impatient gamer. If you are looking for full-out action, stick with other combat sims. If you want to experience history, as it was made, this is the sim for you. You will acquire a new respect for the B-17G, and its crew members! Enjoy!!
You are able to take control of any one of the ten positions aboard the airship, and, as the Bombadier, you have effective control of the entire ship. Once your mission is underway, you can even tranfer to a fighter, that is escorting your squadron, or into the cockpit of an enemy fighter, looking to prevent your progress. In effect, there is action where none is evident.
Operations of B-17,Flying Fortress-Mighty 8th on the Vista OS requires a patch, and the ability to decompress, or unzip files. Once obtained, via online sites, history is yours for the making.

B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th (PC Game) is less of a game and more of a simulator. If you are the type that just wants to sit down and start blasting things, this is not the game for you. If you are an analytical mind that gets pleasure from learning the controls of a b-17 and how to fly it you will love this game. Being that it's an older game the graphics are not up to par but it's still fun.

I liked it because it reminded me of what my Uncle told me about the war
that is why I decided to buy it part of our history and for my grandkids to learn about it also they need to know what our soldiers went thru in the wars gone by not just what is happening today over seas

would not work properly at all. would freeze. i am running windows xp and havent had trouble before. the lesson is to stick with reputable suppliers of software.
