I'm a big fan of the Avatar series and wanted to collect all the DVDs. I was debating on getting the box sets for each season, but I really enjoyed the box art for the individual episodes of Book 1: Water. Plus, for each volume of Book 2: Earth, there's an issue of a 4-part mini-comic that came with the first 20 disks of each shipment, so be sure to ask!
I bought the individual disks for Books 1 and 2 from varying sellers, and ended up getting them all for just over the price of one box set, and collected the 4-part mini-comic, which isn't in the box set. So if you've got the patience (and shelf space) to pick them up one by one, that's the way to go!
