Autumn from the Heart of the Home by Susan Branch (2004, Hardcover)

Sweet watercolor paintings accompany the wonderful variety of recipes, decorating ideas and down-home, memory-filled pages of this hand-painted and lettered book. I love Susan's girl-friendly chit-chatty style, sounds like she's right there in the kitchen with me. Her recipes are easy and elegant at the same time, and sometimes they're just "unusual" enough to seem exotic. She reminds me that sweet simplicity and friendly hospitality are important qualities to share our lives with others. Her inspirational quotes sprinkled throughout are very uplifting, too. My favorite part of her books are the simple, sweet, and "earthy" watercolor paintings--in fact, she's inspired me to follow my own dream to paint with watercolors AND hone my calligraphy lettering skills.

I have been in a creative slump this year and because Autumn and Thanksgiving are my favorite times of the year, I wanted something that would inspire me to find the things I used to love about it again. I've been a fan of SB's drawings since I first saw them in ads in Country Living magazine years ago, so I thought I would take a look at her book. Got it out of the library and decided I needed to have my own copy! Her artwork is so charming! The whole book is eye candy. Her thoughts on Autumn and Thanksgiving are inspiring and I've already tried some recipes and they are good. Love this book! My home is decorated for the season and I'm enjoying it and am looking forward to Thanksgiving. I'd say this book did the trick for me. :)

Love all of Susan Branch's Books and own the entire collection. Each page is a separate work of art and the recipes are easy to make and always get rave reviews. I purchased these as gifts for friends. This seller was great! I wouldnt hesitate to buy again from this person.

I like the author and many of her books,this one was good but not her best in my opinion. some recipes seemed strange, some looked really good.The drawings and artwork were adorable as usual.
