Audition by Barbara Walters (2008, Hardcover)

This book is simply my opinion since I heard about her from my parents then went on to see and watch her on interviews and 20/20.
Only a few pages in the book and Walters does not want to reveal her age as she says, don't ask, yet her sister Jackie is 3-4 years older so go figure, she has to be 70, if not older.
I oftened wondered why she insisted on special lighting for her television appearances, only to be angled from the left side, now I know.
I have never known anyone so age conscience, and find it sad she can not admit to her real age and her very obvious cosmetic surgeries.
Not only does she have a hangup about her age and plastic surgery,
I feel Ms. Walters has a lot of hidden guilt regarding her mentally challenged sister and this still has yet to be resolved, which is quite sad.
Being a avid reader myself, I found it hard to focus when in one sentence she would give you a hard luck story, then the next sentence would be how well off her family, relatives, ect. who they knew and it was brag, sob, brag.
I have my doubts I will ever finish the book.
I only wish the best for Ms. Walters, hopefully she will retire soon as she could have many years ago and I would love to see her use proceeds from this book to build a center for physically and mentally challanged individuals in her honour.

I had seen Barbara promoting her book and knowing what a good writer she was, decided to purchase it. What I wasn't expecting was how in depth it was. It is a big book, one that I emersed myself in and totally enjoyed. Along the way were helpful hints for my own life. I still have her original book, How to Talk To Anyone. A big deal was made about her affair with the senator. That section was a drop in the bucket when reading the entire book. It was hyped to sell books. I will not be selling or giving this one away. It is staying on my shelf.

Since Barbara isn't that much older than myself I was able to relate to the people she talks about in her book. All I know is Barbara worked really, really hard, as she will share with you in the book, so deserves a life of whatever she wants. She has earned it.

I bought this book, originally because I was just being nosey and wanted to know Barbara Walters' business. After I started reading the book, it's hard to put it down. Very well written and very easy to read!

SIMPLY PUT, IF YOU LIKE WALTERS YOU WILL ENJOY THE BOOK. ONE THING MUST BE KEPT IN MIND, SHE IS A HUMAN AND HAS/HAD FLAWS. DON'T EXPECT A PERFECT TRAIL, BLAZING, STRONG WOMAN. AFTER READING THE BOOK, I ADMIRE HER MORE. (I AM A STRAIGHT MALE,39)

If you like Barbara Walters or have wondered about her career, this is a great book for you. At almost 600 pages, it's a big long, but it is easy reading.

I have been wanting this book for a long time and I like hasrdcover books. The price was great therefore I purchased it. Demley2

I bought the book because it was mentioned on a television show I watched. I am not a big fan of Barbara Walters but found the book well written and entertaining. Am definitely not sorry I bought the book. Read it on vacation at the beach and it kept my attention through most parts. Those I found not so interesting, I just skipped. Would I recommend it to someone...would not actively do that but if asked would say I found it entertaining.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. very interesting to read about Barbara's life, her interviews with famous people, etc. i would recomend it to anyone to read. very easy read, and again cant beat ebay price!!!

Love all of the details about her life and how it was written! Wanted to buy it because i have always like Barbara Walters and she seems so private on TV so this was chance to see what she is really like and how she thinks!.

A very comprehensive look at the life of legendary reporter Barbara Walters. Who knew she still doesn't drive?? A great deal of the book deals with Barbara's feelings regarding her Developmentally Disabled sister Jackie, whom Barbara later honored by naming her daughter Jackie. A great look into what makes a "celebrity" tick.

I thoroughly enjoy reading this book, and getting to know Barbara Walters more. Just like everyone else she has had struggles along the way. I feel she has pioneered her way for women in the journalism field. She has worked hard to where she is at, and I commend her for that. Kuddos to Barbara!
I decided I wanted to read this book, but didn't want to pay the high price of it at a book store. So E-bay was the way to go about getting it. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

Our book club picked this book, but we all felt that it was a chore to read it. It felt as if we were reading a text book. One member felt that if Barbara had had another person write her story, it may have been a more interesting read. Barbara did describe a lot of interesting interviews, but even that seemed to go on and on.

I was so surprised by this book. I expected it to be all about famous people and Barbara Walters. It was actually a history book of current events that Barbara Walters covered. I was impressed by how many firsts she has had in her career and how she perfectly balanced her career and homelife in this book. I have suggested it and lent it to several friends.

I liked everything as it was a book I wanted. Price was good, condition of book excellent. Even the outside cover is excellent. Again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to own this book.

i enjoyed seeing a side a barbara that she doesnt show the public, a good book to relax with. well worth the price.

What a life she has experienced. Thought the book would be a chore to read, and it was in fact a real delight. To share all of that with the rest of the world and so elequantly is a wonderful accomplishment. As if she needed another one. Even my husband is reading it. Fascinating. Highly recommend. And I read a LOT!.

I never got book, seller sent to wrong address, and when I informed Paypal, they blew me off saying the seller has confirmation, he sent it to the wrong address, so I am out the money and book ( the seller is now long gone, and not a seller anymore )

AS I read the book, I could mentally envision Barbara telling her story out loud. She spoke from the heart and was great!
