  Can't complain for the price

I have owned three PDA phones and this one was the best rounded phone so far. I had the Siemens SX56 which was solid but the software would lock up often. I also now use a Treo 700wx which is nice for browsing but I sure miss the screen size of my PPC 4100 by Audiovox and still fits easily in my pocket. The PPC4100 does just about everything and having large screen sure adds many bonus points in my book because you can watch movies comfortably, read e-books, listen to MP3s, play games, and typing isn't a problem because the 'virtual' keyboard/text input is a nice size and interchangeable(I often type with my fingers on the screen with out the stylus). Seriously, why don't more people own these kinds of smart phones?
The cons: The battery can pop out if dropped on the ground (just use a small piece of scotch tape) and you might need to backup your files on the SD card often(takes less than a min) in case you loose the phone for a day or two and the battery dies.

This PDA is very smart and popular. This PDA combines all the functions of video iPod and cell phone with no dull buttons or complicated controls. It is very smart and versatile, but nothing is perfect. It is turned on all the time and battery is to be charged somewhat often... and display could be brighter, too. Anyway, me and my friends prefer this device to smartphones or keyboarded PDAs, in my youth such a device used to be a science fiction!

This phone has many advantages to the more common PPC phone combo's. The screen is larger than most available Pocket PC's on the market, and at the price I paid ( under $100.00 ) you can not touch the power it packs. The PPC / Phone Runs at 400Mhz or 200Mhz ( Selectable ) something you won't find on Newer phones. also, It can run in Auto(Mhz)mode which means it runs only as fast as is necessary to run the application. I have found that if you down shift to 200Mhz you get a much longer battery life, but, when playing games I run it at 400Mhz. Also, I can watch full screen movies which I have stored on the SDC card I bought for almost nothing. This took very little time to set up. I downloaded a free MP4 player for Pocket PC2003 and used software I picked up at Target ["Video Vault"(software for PSP)] to rip movies to a PSP. I did not even have to reformat the video I just ripped it straight from a DVD. I just took the file from the (Vault)directory of the software and coppied it to my Memory Card, popped it in my Phone, and I was off watching my Movie. This is great on a plane or long Car ride( no need to carry a MP3 player either). For long trips get a second Battery they are readily available on ebay and fairly inexpensive. The only draw back is it is not EDGE, although the gprs works fine, it's just not as fast as my new Blackberry 8700 when Browsing. I wanted a phone I could use a stylus on (I hate thumb typing) and I wanted it to have a nice screen and phone function. This is definetly a great phone. I with it had a universal pointer like the later versions, this would be nice when playing my MAME games like centipede or Galaxian.

If you are looking to cross over from a Palm Device to a Windows mobile you are going to have a lot of trouble adjusting to the new software. Windows is a little bloated and not as easy to use as palm. But, on the other hand it has so much more to offer that you will never be able to utilize all of it's capabiities.
You need to upgrade to the latest version of the software. (SP230A_Refresh_Utility_0117) It is available for "free" please don't pay the vultures out there, Just look around on the internet for the upgrade.)
You will need to unlock the Phone afterward ( This involves replacing one file in the Windows\system directory on the Phone.(also availble for free, just look around).

Lets see. I bought an unlocked Audiovox PPC4100 thinking that it would be a pretty good buy. Hey for 2 bills what do you exspect? Lets start with the goods. It's extremely light (almost as light as the V3 razr). The screen size is about standard for pda's today. This thing is like a beast when the vibrates on so don't plan on missing any calls or reminders. When it comes to sound it's pretty average but does pretty well for regular use for the gym, work, and play. Now on to the bad. There's alot of bad but what phone doesn't have flaws.
#1- The bigest flaw is that the phone lacks a built in keyboard! and the kicker is that the TenGO manufacturer doesn't make em anymore so good luck looking for one.
#2- No built in WI-FI (you can buy a SD attachment though)
#3- No built in Bluetooth (also have attachments)
#4- Petty 64mb of memory.
#5- Performance isn't all that great for games but it gets the job done.
Well that's pretty much all I have at the moment and i hope you found this review to be helpful.

Greatest PDA phone for the price
Review created: 04/27/06

This is a great phone for the price I paid...it did everything the other pocket PC phone can do at fraction of the price. it has an SD card slot so it can hold everything, it has a builtin backup program which is great because most Pocket PC device do not have backup battery, so when you go travel and the battery dies, charge it and restore from backup, no computer needed, other PDA requires you to BUY a 3rd party software, so when the battery dies, you still have to reinstall the software before you can restore, not good for travels. worst thing about this phone is style, it's too blocky for a phone merged with PDA, it looks ok as a PDA alone though
