Audiovox CDM8900VW (Verizon Wireless)

Yes, I had this phone back in the days of Verizon Wireless (which I'm heading back to, by the way =). It was great, which reflects my review, and here's why:

1) Durability. Now, needless to say, I am a klutz, and I CONSTANTLY drop my phones all the time. It's just something I've learned to accept and then buy phones accordingly. This one I dropped at least 5 times guaranteed, and it never showed anything wrong with it, except of course for the scratches on the phone itself. It just never busted.

2) Interface. Sorry to say it, but I loved how this thing organized everything! It has everything within reach of numbers and organizes everything perfectly (settings, images, etc.) It was grand!

3) THE BLUE LIGHTS! When I have a hard time hearing my phone, seeing that it's blinking blue is a DEFINITE help for me (plus the fact that I love lights haha).

If I changed anything, it would be to make the keys a little larger (I'm an avid TXTer), but other than that, I love this phone.

I live in a low signal area and I have had much better luck with this phone than any other that I've had. Don't let Verizon or any other carrier tell you that their "network" is the same with any phone you get. I did get them to finally admit that some phones are more reliable and get better signal than others and that is so true. I would not have gotten a new phone this year because I like this one so much... however, with the "new every two" deal from Verizon, I (or should I say my gadget-junky husband) just couldn't resist the new technology out there like BlueTooth & MP3 player (which are not available on this phone - probably the only down side). So, bottom line... if you don't care about the BT or MP3 capabilities, this is a great reliable phone to have with lots of features.

I LOVED this phone because it was SO durable. As a teenager with anger problems, it had it's times of being thrown about. This phone went down a flight of wooden stairs, open. Not a scratch on it. An overall GREAT phone, definately worth the extra money!

While getting a call, the blue lights on the side flash brightly. It'll totally grab your attention if the ringing and vibration don't. It always had a signal, even out in the boondocks. I'd reccommend this phone to ANYONE!

I was told it was a "Brand New" phone but it won't hold a charge,it shuts off without warning and it has a lot of static(issues I've had with other refurbished phones). When I inquired about the issue, it was obvious to me that they were NOT reading what my complaint was about and they were not going to take care of the situation. Being totally frustrated and unwilling to continue an e-mailing game, I have decided it is not worth my time and have settled for a refurbished phone. I will NEVER do business with these people again.

Great phone. Love the blue lights on the side. Excellant reception and simple to use. Speaker phone could be louder.

I bought it because i had no other choice. I thought the person would be honesst about their product, but they werent. My phone stopped working and i asked for a refund and got no response!!!! verryyy dissapointed.

This product was purchased as parts for another phone that i had. When the phone worked it was average. The speaker volume was pitiful and so was the call reception. The camera on the phone is very low quality and it has no flash, the lighting conditions had to be just right and the object had to be close because of no zoom. The phone is however, very durable and i even ran it through the wash twice with it coming out of it just fine. What did my phone in was a throw against concrete (not recommended as durability test). Comparitively the phone is bottom of the line and i would recommend it only to somebody looking for a cheap clam style phone. I bought it for this reason, cheap and clam style.

We had two CDM8900VW phones when they first came out from Verizon. We've been very pleased. They are basic, but fit our needs. As with anything electronic, they wore out. The light bulb inside burnt out and we could still make and receive calls, but not see any information, first my husband's phone and then mine. We purchased new phones from Verizon but they sounded too digital and we were not pleased. We returned them and then found our old phones on ebay. We're really pleased with the CDM8900 phones and it was a lot more economical!

This phone is "ok." It's extremely simple, and I wouldn't suggest using the camera. If all you want is a phone to make calls, this would be perfect. The buttons are big, the ringer is loud.

I bought this phone after my daughter had laid her Samsung A670 to waste 8 months before our contract was up for renewal. My daughter actually found this phone as a feasible answer to her problem and it met her requirements. While the camera is not as good as her samsung and the phone is a tad bulkier and heavier the purchase price of $24 with all the extras that came with it made this acquisition a no brainer! The camera does a nice job in perfect light but other then that.... (but hey its a phone right!). My Daughter also says it a bit annoying that you can't shut off the blue light (but it makes it really easy to find it in the dark!!!)
When my verizon contract is up I may just come shopping again rather then be limited by their choices (and hype)! For my money...I couldn't be happier.

This phone is prefect for you if this is your first phone.
But if you are looking for an upgrade, not so much.
easy to get to everything,
but its almost TOO simple.
and you get extremely lucky if you get a picture taken that is not dark.
texting is difficult.

The phone in general is great everything works great with the exception of the camera the images aren't great but for the price can't expect perfection!! the dealer held up every end of their bargain no real complaints on that!!

My friend had a phone like it and she said it was a good phone. I needed one right away and it was also the only one in my money range, and the ringtones sound great.

The phone works really well and I received it fast after my money was received.
I would buy from this person again.

One of the first camera phones out there, but that's the worst feature on the phone. The reception however, is stellar, even in most basements. The sound quality is great outside of the speaker phone feature which is okay, but a little low. Phone is very durable, I had two of these, one I beat up pretty good, but it still looks good minus a few nicks and scratched. I cracked the screen on that one too somehow but it kept ticking. The other one my wife took much better care of. Full featured with mobile web, im, email, some PDA functions, overall a very solid phone.

Quick, fast and easy to work with! Top notch seller! Forgot to check my email for about 2weeks, busy college finals and still the made the buying experience delightful!

I like the functionalability of this item, and its simplisity. I needed a repacement for the C ell I was Using, and this was a good answer to the problem

Had this phone for 2 years. It never dropped a call. Has the best voice quality of any phone I have ever used (I have a slight hearing loss and need the volume and clarity of this phone). While traveling, my wife was constantly dropping calls on her other model phone on the same phone plan and had no problem with mine. After two years, I replaced it with a different model phone and gave the Audiovox to her. Two and 1/2 years after that, she would fight anyone who tried to take her phone even tho she is eligible for a new one free. I am now searching for another CDM 8900 because I have never had a phone to perform as that one did for me and does for her now 4-1/2 years old. It is such a shame that the best phone ever was taken off the market so soon. It is still the best phone ever.

The only problems i've found with this phone is that it has low battery life and some dropped calls. Other than that, it has service pretty much anywhere and is user friendly. Another downside: crappy ringtones
